By the way, subbing NIN for dual axes at 20 isn't really the best of ideas, and subbing NIN at 24 and not bringing along shihei for Utsusemi REALLY makes people look down on you...

Utsusemi has its uses and you may be asked to sub /NIN if you have it available. However, Great Axe is still superior until at least 50. Do not doubt the Shield Break.

It's not a Mithra. It's an anthropomorphic cat.

Generally, meat foods increase your Attack, and thus your damage. Other stats as well, that vary from dish to dish, but Attack is the common feature.

If you're after PURE attack (ie. no accuracy) then there's two very common meats that you'll eat(s): MEAT JOIKY and KABOBS. Make use of the jerky up until...... level 25ish? It can be bought from NPCs in all starting cities and other places besides. Cheap and effective. Then feel free to upgrade to Kabobs. They both add +STR and a +attack percentage to your base attack (this %-increase has a fixed maximum amount though - the 'cap' figure - which is why Meat Jerky should be upgraded to Kabobs to take advantage of the higher cap). Again though, meat is used if you are having no serious accuracy issues!. If you're swinging your Great Axe and missing every other swing, that +attack and +str isn't helping you. Accuracy first, power afterwards. These are a DD's priorities. Ideally, you can use equipment to address accuracy issues, then eat meat to magnify your damage output, but this can be difficult to manage on a budget and/or with little knowledge of how to dress yourself properly. The level and type of mobs you end up EXPing against also add a very real and crucial window of uncertainty concerning your accuracy:attack balance. Best advice would be to carry at least some meat and some accuracy food at all times (PUMPKINS make good EARLY accuracy food, with the various Sushis becoming standard accuracy eats at higher levels, 30-40ish, expensive as they certainly can be). Or there's always DUMPLINGS which offer both attack boosts and a moderate accuracy boost. Typically, not cheap though. (._.); It's hard to give solid, 'just-eat-this' advice for food. Too many factors affect what would be most effective at any given time. Read up on what each does, consider your own gear, take into account what level/types of mobs you'll be swinging away at and try to use the food that you think will benefit you most (both performance-wise and financially.. ).One last thing to look at: FOOD GUIDE!

You really shouldn't have Accuracy issues if you have Shield Break. And you really should be using Shield Break.

I remember I had times on WAR though when it was painfully difficult to simply make the TP to use the WS in the first place. A lolsome qufim party on Pugs springs vividly to mind, overcamping as we were (read: as the party-leader and his gf had us). D:EDIT: And even though I was a newby newbster, I'd still been taught during the Dunes the importance of aiming to keep G.Axe TP for use at the start of each fight. Shit don't always go to plan though. And times like that teach you many things; one of them being: accuracy issues are still accuracy issues.
