I agree about tanking and saying to zone ... if the tank says zone, you ZONE! As a tank, I won't have time to argue the case with you ... especially not if I'm solo tanking in Yuhtunga on WAR/NIN.

As a WHM I won't zone the second the Tank says zone. Everyone is much more likely to get out alive if I stay behind to paralyze the mob and keep the tank healed until it's just me and the tank left. Then I will leave so the tank can. i do this because I'm pretty tired of the tank getting killed then the party getting cut down while they flee to the zone. As a WHM there are also times where I am perfectly willing to sacrifice myself to save your exp. If a gob just bomb tossed the party into the red i will use Benediction. Yes it will likely kill me but it will also let you finish off the mob or give you all enough time to zone. I always have my HP set as close to the camp as possible so HPing means that you only need to wait for me to run back from the Outpost or Choco in from the nearby town which will take 2 mins at most. |

I have a few rules/things that irk me in parties as a white mage, and I say this having lvled both DD's and Mages. One thing I HATE the most, is when a DD's (or especially the tank....) hp is getting low (probably because they ws at start of the fight ><) and they decide that when I am about to cure them is the BEST time to change gear..... so I end up curing myself and you die, and then blame me saying I suck... I understand the want of changing gear to get that little bit of extra damage out, but I really don't like curing myself unless I have to, so please, watch when you change gear.... Overcures are a big problem... especially if there is a /dnc in the party, because if I am curing someone, don't do a waltz that is going to basically overwrite my cure. At least have a macro that will let me know when you are Waltzing.... /Dnc is good for soloing, or in small parties that don't have a white mage. If I am the white mage, and I cure you, DON'T yell at me telling me that you can cure yourself or NOT to cast Paralyna on you because you can do it yourself. Otherwise I just might take your advice and let you die when you take on more then you can handle. Another thing that irks me is people that think that DNC > all. Not a real reason, I like my dnc for soloing, but whm/nin is a bit faster IMO. Other than that, I can't think of anything else that hasn't already been said.

I had forgotten about this thread; how nostalgic. * * * Quote:
/magic "Cure III" <stal>They cannot equipment change to blink out those. Ever. Quote:
Probably, you're curing people who already have HP restored in those cases, so your cure did very little or nothing. If a DNC or /DNC is handling cures well, cast enfeebling magic, and lot's Regen. Flash when people are hit, and move down to lower a tier of Cure to waste less MP when they use Curing Waltz. Heck, Haste more people. * * * No more replacement invites. Ever. Invited into a Garlaige Citadel party, and within three fights two other people replaced themselves, including the leader, and the last person leaving tossed me the leader. Melee'ing BLM gave me attitude over how he can lot anything he wanted and the (previous) leader said ok. (He didn't ask anyone since I've joined, and that meant he didn't ask half of the party.) When I insisted it was impolite, he made a surly declaration he's lotting stuff instead of actually asking. The NIN tank wanted to leave, and while trying to work out how long he had left, I ended up linking a bat which was probably hiding in room at an angle I couldn't see while pulling--thanks, SE--and it killed the mages because they were resting when I tried to zone the extra. That gave the loudmouth, loot-whoring melee-BLM plenty of ammunition to shoot complaints. WHM didn't have RR up, of course, even though it's now a Lv.25 spell. I warped home to bring WHM to raise, told the party members to disband, and booted the BLM to keep my sanity. (Was going to raise him still, but didn't want more of his whining.) The BLM HP'ed or something, and the WHM was raised by someone by the time I got there, but he didn't have map so I escorted him to Jeuno. 11 fight party. I hate people. I hate replacement invites. PL? BRD? COR? I don't care if they have PL+BRD+COR plus the Goddess herself and that I'm the luckiest person in Vana'diel to be offer a spot in this amazing party only at camp for measly hour and half. No more. Not even going to respond to /tell if the party leader isn't in a town. That's my new exp party rule.

Seriously I would give anything for DDs to actually use a DNC subjob or *gasp* actually spend a whole four thousand gil on a stack of shihei. I spend twice that per stack of bullets for my COR and don't complain.

I don't know about melee jobs, but I went to a lot of parties as COR/DNC before I was high enough level for Slugshot and Barrage. Sometimes I still do, depending on party setup (or for lower level sync). I found it quite useful - at those levels B skill isn't really a barrier to hitting an exp mob (esp if you use sushi, which I'm not a fan of for A ranked weapons, but for COR/DNC it's pretty handy) and you can keep on samba plus backup heal (in between running around to roll, of course - it gets *really* busy if you're also pulling). It's not like a pre-Slugshot COR is going to do anything terribly impressive with their TP anyway. It's also a nice solo/FoV build - rolling Samurai and Ninja to solo DC-EM, or at higher levels, Samurai and Dancer's, you can outlast pretty much anything, even before Joyeuse. It doesn't turn you into a BST that can solo VTs, but you can pick up a few thousand exp while waiting for party (if CORs need to wait for parties on your server). A DD NPC can help improve your kill speed. (It would probably also be good for duos and trios, with or without NPCs, but I haven't tried.)
