Where To Wait For A PT At This Level?
Ok, so judging by my profile, you will all know what my job levels are. (they are definitely correct too) Can I just confirm that Jeuno is the place to wait for a pt at my level please?

I sat there waiting for a pt for nearly a painstaking 2 hrs yesterday, and not ONCE, did anyone call me up for an invite! /sigh! I had my flag up, and a search comment too, but to no avail. So eventually, as the evening wore on, I just gave up and logged off to go to sleep. /sigh!

I guess there could be a couple of factors causing this small problem here.
Either it was just an off day, and not many people were looking, (since I have had sucess at waiting in Jeuno and been invited before today on a couple of occasions at this level) or maybe I had an unwanted search comment, which went something like this.

<Party> <Experience Points> <Do you have it?> 3,400/6,000. (that's roughly my exp for next level, but I can't recall it exactly away from the game)
Then I just had : Please send /tell. P.S. <I don't speak any japanese>

Now, if that's a bad setup for a pt search comment, then please could anyone help me out with anything better?

Other than that, is there anywhere else I should be waiting for a pt other than Jeuno, or is that about it?

Oh and...... one last thing.

"/sea all Lower Jeuno" revealed no results whatsoever. (even though there were plainly quite a few players there yesterday)
I tried this with other zones too, and still the same thing.

I did this just because I wanted to see how many players there were in the zone, but it just doesn't seem like a good option unfortunately. I'm sure it worked at one time though.

Is there any way of finding out how many players there are in a zone at any one time please?

Re: Where To Wait For A PT At This Level?
To check how many people are in your current zone, you can just type "/sea" and it will tell you who else is in that area. You can also type "/sea region" to find who is in all of Jeuno(Ru'lude/Upper/Lower/Port). To search for a certain area, go to the Menu -> Search -> Area, then scroll through the regions, and pick the areas, and you can search them like that. I personally don't know the typed out commands for those so that's what I do.

To search for your level range, as in who is seeking around your level, you can also type "/sea all 34-38 inv"(inv meaning people that have their flag up). And you can judge from those results if you can make your own party.

Try this website also, so that you can see a list of where you will possibly be going to camp at your level.

Really an awesome site.

Erm, I believe /sea all Lower Jeuno will search for all players currently playing the game in any region or zone with the name Lower. You should try /sea all 21-23 inv to search all players in the game from levels 21 to 23 who are flagged for invitation.

Your profile and sig conflict each other.

Thanks a lot for that info. Looks very useful indeed!
I'l take these into consideration and use them.

Okay... there's something which will come in handy too.
Thanks! Everytime I make a search, I've only done :

/sea all 35, then....
/sea all 36
/sea all 37 e.t.c

To do /sea all 35-37 would be quicker and more convenient though. Thanks!

I'm also just wondering something I'm unsure of.

Is it appropriate for a WHM to be /telling around, and asking others if they want to go into a pt? I mean...... I always thought that should be left to a melee job to do that. I could be mistaken though.

I'm just a bit confused on it I think.

Yep. I've seen that site before. I wasn't very confident to use it when I first came across it, since all the pt areas are all in diffferent places where I thought that many players didn't have their pts at, but I've got more used to it now, and find it rather useful too.

That's funny. When I do "/sea all Lower Jeuno" on mine, it just comes up with absolutely no results whatsoever.
Maybe I have an error in my game somewhere. I'm not sure really.

Re: Where To Wait For A PT At This Level?
To search a zone and you don't know the abbreviations for it you need quotes around it:

/sea "Lower Jeuno"

This will search the region Lower Jeuno, by typing /sea all Lower Jeuno it doesn't see Lower Jueno as one place, but thinks your are searching for someone named Lower.

So if you are in Windurst Waters and want to search another reagion you can type:

/sea "Name of zone in quotes"

Such as:

/sea "Lower Jueno"
/sea "Bibiki Bay"

However you cannot search a zone you've never been in:

/sea "Dynamis - Vulkum" will yield no results if you've never been there.
/sea "Grand Palace of Huxzoi" will yield no results if you've never been to Sea.

***

As for where you seek, it shouldn't really matter. Many party leaders know how to use the search function. If I'm looking to make a party and I'm level 36 I'll do the following:

/sea all 33-39 inv -- This will tell me everyone in the range that is currently seeking for a party. However I don't want a 7 level gap in a party, so I'll choose the appropriate range around a tank and healer. If the tank is 38, I'll look for a healer that is in the 36-38 range as opposed to 33 or 34.

By using "/sea all" I get to see the whole world, many party leaders know that you have better things to do that sit around in one zone waiting for a party, why not farm while seeking?

But you want to note that you have a way of getting back to town quickly (such as a scroll of instant warp) so the party doesn't have to wait for you to chocobo back to town. My search comment will looking something like this:

@3,000 TNL ~ {Home Point}{Aht Urhgan}
{Warp}:O {Party} {everyone}{all right!}
{Support Job} {Anything}

This lets the part know I can get to town via warp quickly, that the subjob I'm currently using may not be the one I party with (I don't farm whm/blm I use /thf or /nin but don't exp that way).

One thing that bugs me in the auto translate is that everyone uses {Sub} for thier sub job. This translates loosly to sandwhich I believe. I certainly wouldn't tell someone go sandwhich white mage so that you can back up heal. It doesn't make sense to an international person trying to build a party.

Actually, I don't think it denotes a sandwich; {sub} refers the equipment slot, as in sub-weapon. The auto-translated phrase everyone should be using is: {Support Job}, under [Game Terms].

(That's different from {Support Role Job} under [Tactics], which is "mid-line", meaning likes of RDM's and BRD's.)

Ah, yea that makes more since. Every time I see it though I think Coeurl Sub for some reason. Either way, it's an incorrect usage unless the whm intends to be a whm/nin using a blm as a weapon in the {sub} slot

Kinda like this:

"I will help {May}{Bee}." That's annoying and makes you look dumb.

OT:
As a WHM post level 34, it shouldn't really matter where you are LFG. Sub BLM and mention where your home point is in your search comment. Simple, really.

Yar. Which leads to a related suggestion: don't wait for a party. Do other stuff while seeking. Stuff like farming, HELM, or crafting.
