Farming etiquette

The past couple days I've been farming grain seeds and beehive chips in Konschtat Highlands. As a BLM, I find it easiest to cast Blaze Spikes on myself, cast Dia or Bio on the bee/sapling, training all the mobs I can find until my spikes wear off. Then I cast an AoE spell to slaughter all the mobs.

I get so many crazy looks when I do this. I've had people run up and say "Call for help!" and they voke a mob off me. Or "Stop! I'll heal you!" Then they realize that I'm not in peril, I'm just farming, and they feel silly. One of my friends was using this same strategy to farm as a WHM/BLM, and he said someone got really mad at him for training crawlers in W. Saruta.

I just want to make sure I'm not violating some unwritten code that says you can't train numerous mobs around a zone and then zap them. I try to be courteous, and if I see people exping or farming near me I go to another part of the zone. Please advise me. ^^

You're doing nothing wrong if this isn't a common xp site. However, if you're training goblins at Valkrum dunes (example for simplicity), that is kind of assholish. However, it's not against the ToS and it's more of a courtesy to not steal xp mobs for farming.

Other than that, train at your own will. In low-level places like Giddeus, you're free to kill and train all the bees you want.

I am very new to the game and I have to admit that the first time I saw someone doing this in W. Saruta I wondered what the heck they were doing, but I quickly figured it out. And it really was funny to see 10+ crawlers chasing someone ^_^

Re: Farming etiquette

If other farmers got angry - who cares. We all need gil, and we are all competitors.

Just don't train exp mobs from parties. That's not really nice, altho it's not wrong either.

Re: Farming etiquette

Best advice is, check the area first, see how many people are tryin to exp if there are not many and mobs are plentiful then on't worry, just don't take mob lose to them away, its difficult to level at low levels when you have no mobs if you get my meaning.

Re: Farming etiquette

East Ron is good when you're starting out.
No one farms there.
When you get a little higher just go to West Ron.
Then Fort Ghselba.
Sandoria is pretty good for beginning jobs. The swag isnt very impressive though.

Re: Farming etiquette

It used to annoy me when THFs or BLMs farmed like that in Konschat but there really is nothing wrong with it. Especially in an area as large as Konschat, there are plenty of mobs to go around. I would just watch for people trying to exp like most have mentioned.
