now if you can get a group of people together and create a full alliance, then boot out everyone but the pt leaders, you could gain more xp than normal with 3 people in a pt

Basically, at level 1, any job can solo a bumblebee for 50 exp. I seem to remember grouping with a noob at level 1 just so I could show him around, and we each soloed a bee and each got 50 exp...from each bee. Total 100 exp, twice what I would have gotten alone.

Theoretically, then, 6 level ones equals 300 exp for one round of everyone fighting their own bee, all very close together. Doesn't that give us level 2, full HP and MP?

Now, we each fight a mandragora, for 75 EXP across the board (IF I remember all these things correctly, which is about the same as the likelihood that someone on these boards will get kidnapped by an alien as they read this post.)

That's 450 EXP. Seems to me like that gets us level 3. Rinse and repeat on rabbits (or maybe one more round on mandragoras). And keep cranking without a need to stop and rest up till level 8 or so.

Now there's only two problems that I see with this setup.

A. mob density isn't high enough. Although West Saruta is pretty dang close. I know i've seen 6 bees and 6 mandys there in close enough formation to at least make an attempt

B. I dont' REMEMBER getting EXP penalized for being in a group, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Six bees at a time for fifty exp each is worthwhile....but for fifteen exp each, it is not.

But EXP IS an AOE effect. perhaps SE made it that way for a reason? If I was to try out low-level grouping, it would be to experiment with this method.
yeah as someone else said exp is penalised, but you could make up for that by splitting up into pairs and going after even match/toughs and getting chain bonuses. the other (big) bonus, is if you are chaining the mobs quickly, and all have signet on, you could seriously get a lot of crystals. Infact i've heard of people using this technique to crystal farm.

That's how I would do it, just to keep the jobs somewhat chronologically alligned.
First 6 Basic
First 6 Advanced
Last 6 Advanced (RotZ + ToAU)

That would be interesting to me. Not that it wasn't before. I also might like to see a party with all 4 pet-jobs and 2 others. Not to test anything; I just want to see all those pets going nuts on the same mob.

Re: Curious About Something

Yep.

Just to see how balanced each 'set' of jobs was, based on when they were released. Not that it makes any sense. I just noticed how DRG, SAM, and NIN were (originally) all DD that got the job done in a little different way. BLU, COR, and PUP seemed like they were a set of in-betweeners, kind of floating between the more traditional roles (COR-support & DD, BLU -fighter/mage type, PUP-???).

Don't mind me; I categorize and recategorize all the jobs in my head constantly. OCD.

Question Curious About Something (Low Lv Party)

So if Lv 1 is too low to Party how about Lv 5 for a THF, WAR, MNK, WHM, BLM, RDM party.

By that time War has Provoke and Mnk and THF should have their first weapon skills, and both RDM and WHM has Cure 1, and BLM has 2 Elelmentals

But where to fight?

Re: Curious About Something

With a main war, you can provoke at level 5 so it's possible. I've tried it before.

The problem is that mages have very limiting MP at this point. So fighting anything higher than Tough you'll have a hard time keeping people alive. Tough is fine, you'll be able to kill it before MP dries from my experience, but the EXP won't be that much better than soloing (or even worse if you ask me)
