Re: ZOMG! You're Doing Your Job TOO Well!
I skillup in skillup parties. I join them to skillup my magic, not my weapons. Its pretty much the same as power leveling healing wise. And its a great place to spam divine spells (Especially when there are multiple WHM/RDM/SMN/etc. and no dedicated healer)

totally agree.

What's the rule for Guppies, btw? Spells in general don't make them cause aggro or is it spells that *don't* do damage?

You're talking about Ul'hpemde? They detect movement, spellcasting, and JAs, but don't aggro to anything - all they do when they "aggro" is come over and give you a hug. Same for "linking" - they come over, stare at your for a while, then wander off about 30 seconds later unless you do something else that attracts their attention.

The only time they'll attack you is if you hit them with something offensive.

This quote is all I can comment on.

So what does the redmage say to me? "Dude, are you going to cure anyone? Stop casting regen. If you don't use your MP you're just leeching XP."
Jealous RDM alert~~~~

You learned how to perfect the rare Regen cycle. You should be proud. You can even better this by including regen I. This was also made possible because you did not have to haste all melees. Your enmity level was pretty much 0 throughout that time, since regen generates next to nothing for hate. Less hasting + refresh will allow you do what you really want to do in a party.

but to not refresh, especially when the main healer is asking you to, is unforgivable. i don't care what kind of tank you have. why else are you THERE if not too refresh? to melee?! gimp n00b rdm >.> you shoulda kicked him when he stopped refreshing, and replaced him with something else.
I completely agree. There are not always times that I can whip out the sword and whack away, but on the contrary, there sometimes ARE those times when I can, and do. I've rarely gotten any complaints for it, and when I have, I tell the complaining party that if my other duties fall to the wayside, I'll put the sword away. When it's just auto-attack, it's not terribly hard to cast spells in between. And once you've perfected your Refresh/enfeeb/haste cycle to the point that you know EXACTLY when to cast what, the only thing you need to do is watch for mob buffs and sudden dips in party members' HP. But the Red Mage melee debate is another issue entirely, and I'm not trying to hijack the thread, I swear.

And yeah, refusing to Refresh is unforgiveable. I hate people who play highly sought after jobs (like RDM or WHM) that think that just because they're so needed in a party (when really, they aren't >.>) they can do whatever they want and no one will care or complain. Especially in a situation like yours, when the experience was so perfect before he/she complained.

I swear, some people are just out to ruin others' fun.

This thread needs more hampsters shot out of railguns.

On a side note, the RDM was obviously jealous, and felt insignificant. kudos on shrinking his electronic peen.

Re: ZOMG! You're Doing Your Job TOO Well!
Wow. I'll have to go with what others said. Jealous RDM.

Granted, SMN is my highest job, but I've been in pts with a RDM and COR stacking Refresh so that I was casting constant Cure II or III and still finished a battle with about half or more MP, depending on how good the tank was. I often end up main heal. Which is fine with me. I adore the versatility of smn/whm. Would you like a Buff? How about a MB to go with that SC? Cures? Okay. It's nice to be able to cover so many bases.

Anyway, point is, you were doing your job just fine. You just had a pissy little RDM who felt threatened by that. Your party had found its groove and was getting good exp, and for that to happen, people *have* to be doing their jobs right. So you had MP left. That's a good thing. Like you said, if link were to happen, that mp could mean the difference between wipe and survival.

Re: ZOMG! You're Doing Your Job TOO Well!
That is strange. I love when whms have mp because that means we can keep fighting, and they will be ready when the shit hits the fan (and it will, it always does). He actually went out of his way to MAKE you lose mp, by not casting refresh, causing inevitable downtime. I could understand if he asked you to do all the hastes or even if he stopped backup curing, but to stop refreshing you and to pull his sword, that's just malicious.

As for being told how to do your job, I think the majority of people in the game will be told how to do their job. I think RDMs get it more than anyone else because we have so much to do (or are capable of). And, like in this case, 95% of the time it will be retarded and very annoying.

Re: ZOMG! You're Doing Your Job TOO Well!
I have yet to play a job where I don't have someone telling me how to do it. Of course, in this situation, the RDM was obviously wrong, but you know that.

As a previous WHM, I would have loved the setup you're talking about. Too often I had RDMs who felt like they had to be everything to everyone, and they were constantly overcuring me and overhasting, overdebuffing, etc. It was annoying.

Re: ZOMG! You're Doing Your Job TOO Well!
That rdm should've stuck to his job, despite whatever reasons. he had. If he wants to use a weapon he should play a DD job.

Oh, and, Hamlet, you forgot a part in your sig.

Dunno if you didn't put that part in there on purpose or not, just assuming. >.<

Re: ZOMG! You're Doing Your Job TOO Well!
Yesterday, I was a Red Mage lv 11-14 and for two housrs I had to be the Main Healer in the party cause of lack of White mage. We finally got a PL and then a white mage later, but it was hard.
