Regen + Poison is excellent sleep protection. ~.^
during fight with Promy-Holla story NM
sleepga
poison potion tic (awoken)
selbina milk (regen) tic (health recovered)
in kazaam people would demand poisona, i'd tell them that they have regen and it's healing more than the poison is doing and they just don't get it. they're confused on how they're healing but sick at the same time.
I had some good enough tanks while there that even after sleepga, they'd always be the first person hit, so I went ahead and poisona'ed them, it helped in those rare instances when Sleepga would hit while i'm doing Protectra.
as far as the "have to save mps to cure everyone 1 at a time" I found out something on my last visit there (as I was whm, no less ~.^ )
Protectra costs 8 mp and has about a 95% chance of canceling sleep. i don't know the exact % but it works <almost> everytime but I didn't get to try it everytime. I found this out right before I got Protectra II.
when your tank is a pld and needs protect and has enough mps to keep himself cured for a bit (and a just used sleepga means i'll have time for protectra) by the time i reached back to my post everyone was awake.
sure people will weird out seeing Protectra instead of multiple cures or a Curaga but as Elvaan, any little trick to save mps and keep party functioning effectively is a welcome one. Paragon of Red Mage Excellence

DRG who's poisoned, gets a Regen. They don't need to rest because they're saving MP. Same goes with WAR, SAM, THF, blah, blah, blah.
However, PLD, and to a much, MUCH, lesser extent, DRK will/may need to rest at the end of each fight. So after the end of the fight, if the PLD is poisoned, they can be Poisona'd. DRK at this level really all depends. The only spell they'll be using is Drain, so I guess it's whom ever's call as to if they need to rest for MP. In most cases they won't need to and shouldn't. i was just saying with stoneskin, you can heal and gain hps/mps but if slept, with stoneskin, you will not wake up.
EDIT: part of the pld's ability to Get & Keep hate is to Cure themselves. if somone's been playing for 55 levels (30 to unlock pld and 25+ for Kazaam) they should be able to afford drinks. it is the PLD's job to keep themselves cured and for the whm to slap on a regen and to assist if the pld's mps get low or gets in the red. if a pld demands or expects the whm to dedicate fully to keep the pld cured, that's the same as if the pld doesn't provoke, sentinel, flash or anything.

While they might make "Good" or "OK" Pld's Tarutaru do not have the VIT, HP, or Defense to make ANY tanking job easy.
Even as Ninja I view them as sub par. And thats coming from me being both a PLD and WHM for the longest time.
In the case of Ninja, TaruTaru fails a Utsusemi, 2 hits, he is in the red, Loses hate and the hates off on someone else, I can't cure 4 people at once. Bad Idea if your the only mage in the party too.
In the case of PLD. They take a few hits they are in the red, and no matter how much MP you have if you cant cast it fast enough your not going to be able to keep up with damage taken from damage cured. So a whm is going to have to dedicate heal on them, limiting their ability to enfeeb, or assist other party members mid fight.
Of course it does comes down to the player themself. A good player knows every part of his job, and the best way to utilize every aspect of it. Which makes me Cringe when I see a PLD with a Gsword, when they are main tank. Not only are they losing their DOT (PLD accuracy sucks with Gsword no matter what.) But they are losing all the Defensive power a shield gives you. Not to mention Shield Bash.
In my Experiance a Mithra or Hume with all Vit, MP, and MND equipment (Vit Rings, holy Phial, Friars Rope, MP Earrings ect.) Will always out tank a TaruTaru, Galka, or Elvaan. Because they are the best balance for that job. TaruTaru have a shit load of MP, but they can't make up for the low VIT to balance out. And Galka and Elvaan while having a shit load of Vit, can't balance out the MP.
A galka PLD with double Astrals doesn't make a good tank.
Just likea Tarutaru pld with double Physical Earrings doesn't.
No offense or anything >.> sorry for the rant. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 01-19-2006, 06:51 AM | #30 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Posts: 26 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 738 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 738 Donate | Re: {Poisona} {No Thanks!} Wouldn't it be better for the WHM to stay poisoned and cast regen on him, since whm can cast a simple cure and wake up tank or any other pt members ? | | ::Quote Selected:: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -8.
