ppl call me strange???

hi ppl in vandeil that i party with bin callin me strange cuz im a war23/mnk10 im always main tank and i use berserk wen ppl ask me y i do this i say its cuz if healer is concetratin on main tank then y not get some power in as well and they call me strange is it strange???am i the only one hu does it????

Ur not strange, just ppl are just very stingy about keepin the subjob always half of the main.....i did the war/mnk with mnk bein lower than half the main and ppl didn't say anything to me.....just different ppl like to complain i guess.

I did that with WAR/NIN a lot but I also had fish mithkabobs and meat mithkabobs to use depending on the party and situation. Along with the food I used Berserk and Defender depending on the situation, if you are main tank and do it right you can dish out some good damage while keeping the WHMs MP consumption low.

Takes a lot of concentration though because you will tend to have to cancel out Defender and Berserk at certain times. Then go with these 4 combinations:

Fish + Berserk = Normal Defense and +25% Attack
Fish + Defender = +48% Defense and -25% Attack
Meat + Berserk = -25% Defense and +48% Attack
Meat + Defender = +25% Defense and Normal Attack

The different combinations work well to help get hate faster or reduce damage to keep hate better. Either way just got to know when is a good time to use which combination.

Ya, you should stop using it. The game is about the quickest way to kill something with the least amount of effort. It takes balancing. While you may be hitting for more dmg meaning your going to kill it faster, its offset by the mp use of the whm. At lower lvls many whms don't know how to conserve their mp and use more than they should. So you would be running out of a lot of mp by using Berserk continually which would mean a lot of downtime. Also if your main tanking, use gear for tanking. Def heavy gear is more desirable. Don't worry if your taking war to 75, there will come a time when your tanking will slow down to a trickle and you can be a damage dealer. It just takes some time.

Lern too uze gud engrish!!! But in all seriousness, when I was a noob WAR, I kept my MNK subjob at 5 simply for boost. Plus I hate to lvl MNK. Since then i have gotten my THF to 20 and use it for a SJ or Maybe even DRG if im gunna be primarily DPS, i always ask. but i would NEVER use berzerk as a tank. I will even remove it from myself if I am SATA partner. It is just courtesy t the mages, and the rest of the party. If you are really set in your ways, you might want to try World of Warcraft. it really caters to your uh... playstyle. DPS can be tanks sometimes and vica versa.

save berserk for when you aren't the tank please

Since you double the damage you deal as well as the damage you take when using Berserk, you may think it's an even trade but it really isn't. You're not the only person dealing damage. Say there are 3 melee in your group all doing the same amount of damage and you use Berserk. You're now doing as much damage as two characters, so your party deals damage like it has four melee instead of three. That's a 33% increase in killing speed. But since you're the tank and you're the only one taking damage, now you're getting wailed on as if you had two mobs hitting you instead of one, a 100% increase in the damage your party is taking. That means your healer will burn up MP twice as fast and your party will have to spend twice as much time waiting and getting no exp while the white mage sits.

As an example, let's say you're in a party that can kill 3 pugils before the white mage has to sit for MP when you're not using Berserk. If you use Berserk, you will do enough more damage that you could kill 4 pugils in the same amount of time, BUT because the healer's MP is ticking down twice as fast, you really only have enough time to kill 2 before you see the (No more MP!) call and have to stop fighting. Worse, if you have Berserk on and the pugil decides to use Screwdriver on you, most likely you will die in one hit, effectively killing the entire party.

Hope that explanation makes sense.
