ninjas tank by not getting hit. they have problems holding hate though, so the increase in damage they take is worth the extra downtime if they get hit...

Read what I wrote again please. I said NIN/WAR and WAR/NIN should use zerk. Probably a bad idea for a non-blink tank....... I was quoting someone who said never to use zerk while tanking. He should have wrote never use zerk while tanking with WAR/MNK.

What DeathFromAbove actually said was that he personally would never use berserk as a tank, which is a perfectly valid statement to make since it looks like his levels are drg 42, war 40, thf 20, mnk 5, and probably nin 0. He was not saying that nobody should ever use berserk when tanking.

I wouldn't use berserk even if I was nin/war pre 37 unless u have another blink tanker. Double war/nin (or double nin/wars) pre-37 switch blink tanking with berserk is pretty awesome.

i do recall using berserk while tanking as a ninja, levelling my sub.

every pt i happened to be in 12-37, though, happened to have 2 ninjas if i recall correctly...

Only reason to use Berserk if you're a WAR tanking would be to regain hate. And then you immediately turn it off! (I wish there was a way to set up a macro to remove an effect like this. Would make it so much easier!) However I'm am fortunate enough to always level my WAR with a PLD. So I can DD, I can use Berserk all I want! ^^

But if you're tanking, you want to raise your DEF, not drop it to nearly zero! Have you ever paid attention to how much DEF you lose? Would you want to get hit with that much DEF?

I guess spelling english is easy for all the people from english talking places, but its actually not that easy having one main language and english besides! Think about that befor talking to people like this... Try learning my language and then writhing it correctly...

Im not saying good spelling isnt important, so dont get me wrong, but pleas have in mind that its not natrually for us to talk english, but we do our best. So if you need to correct us, can you do it whit a friendly tone pleas? I do my best, not that fun getting rude comments in my face then... pleas think about that

Those jobs were from like '04. Im actually a lvl 15 ninja, even tho it doesnt make much difference, but i am also 30 pally, 20 RNG, and currently lvling SAM, all jobs are to 15 now. I may still be a "noob" in some eyes, but I'm a pro at what I've done. i have never seen a WAR/NIN or NIN/WAR use berserk while activly takning. Although i have seen it used to boost WS damage. And just so you know, i hang out with a bunch of higher lvl folks, i happen to be the lowest main in my LS @44DRG ( lvled up twice but PTs are still scarce) with at least 15 members abouve 72. They are always talking about this stuff in the LS, so i kinda listen and trust what they have to say.

i've seen people Berserk as war/nin or nin/war however if the mob isn't voked off of them when shadows are down, they cancel the effect or die in 2 hits. usually they're able to cancel in time.

As far as Berserk on a tank goes, it's not always bad. Unless you're guaranteed not to get hit (Utsusemi), it's a really bad idea to Berserk when tanking except for very short time periods.

There's three cases where I think using Berserk while tanking without Utsusemi is OK:

(1) You can activate Berserk right before using a weaponskill and immediately turn it off afterwards. I'd consider that a useful calculated risk, as you're dealing extra damage and picking up some extra enmity while you're at it.

(2) You can also turn on Berserk if you lose hate. Extra damage will help you get hate back, but be ready to turn it off the moment you've got control back or the extra damage you take will make you bleed hate faster and possibly lose control again.

(3) High level (75) monks with heavy emphasis on Counter+ gear can use Berserk while they're in Counterstance (since Counterstance drops your DEF to effectively 0 anyway, Berserk's drawback doesn't really hurt you any more).

I see your point, Hecky. I understand that it's difficult for someone who speaks a different language or who is a younger age to type english perfectly. There's one point, though. This is a forum. The point of the forums is to communicate/debate ideas and topics. The majority of people here are going to more than likely expect you to type legibly. If it's someone's first time posting, I think it's a necessity to not bash the person, but let him/her know that he/she needs to post more legibly. If the person posts illegibly again, and again, and again....people lose their patience. If you've ever seen the previous posts made by Darkages, you'll understand why these guys are bashing xx.
