I was thinking maybe it was a burst resist but the MB was Impaction the whole time... Gravity is wind based... I got a few regular resists that night but I've never seen this before wtf?

Monsters with equivalent jobs share some job traits with PCs, in this case thf's Resist Gravity job trait. You'll get that kind of message if casting against resist-type job trait.

ahh a thf goblin ^^ you'll see more of that. brd mobs resisting silence, pld mob resisting sleep etc. Even when they con weak.
