DRGs in BCNM fights

I was wondering if they were useful, and if they are useful, just how useful exactly in bcnm fights.
are they wanted, or is it more of a, "can't find a mnk or a drk, bring a drg along!"

Dragoons are very useful.

H2H weapons SUCK against certain types of monster, littereally suck. Like against shelled, or armored monsters. So in certain situations you may want a spear/wyvern combination.

Dark Knights tend to get a lot of hate if not offsetted by a good Paladin or other taunter. It could be risky to have too many Dark Knights in your party. Dragoons with Super Jump and above can jump and clear all the hate off them.

Spears may also be more effective against certain monsters.

You may have to choose between an under equipped monk, or a well equipped Dragoon. Monks without the proper equipment(Brown Belt, Spike Necklace/Tiger Stole, up to date armor, and a good pair of hooks or katars) can be pretty weak. It doesn't take much to properly equip a Dragoon. Tiger Stole is cheap, +Dex rings can go for a heafty price, but so can the Monk's belts.

Plus, you might have a Dragoon friend who wants to come along!

The topic was refering to DRG's in BCNM fights not exp pt's if you missed that point.
And for BC40 Drg's are pretty much the last damage melee you would want. This is because their wyvern is almost useless for this since it'll either be dead via AoE or Sleeped for the whole fight. Which means the Drg's damage out put is cut in half. You don't have Penta at 40 nor do you get equips like Ochido's Kote that boosts atk.
There are no 'shelled' monsters in BC40 and everyone is on the same playing field for it. Drk, Mnk, or Rng would be my top choices for damage melee for a BC40. But for BC50's and above you get penta and which puts you back on the playing field in terms of damage output.

And you guys act as if there's people waiting in line to fight BCNMs with you. Unless you have some ready to go linkshell you'll be challenged to find enough party members.

Actually, I have a set BCNM party... I'd never go into a BCNM party without people I know unless they are JP. Even if I didn't go static how many people would pass on a /tell asking if they want to earn 100k gil?
