Need help training...

Well right now I'm lvl 9 and in South Gustaberg. I'm originally from Windurst, and my friends had the BRILLIANT idea of taking me to bastok. They switched their sub jobs back to main which was around the upper 20s, man did I feel weak. I died twice along the way, each time with two hits. But we found a mage to raise me each time. So I ended up loosing a bunch of EXP on the way over to bastok. Then I was lvl 8. I did actually get alot more EXP in bastok then in the Sarutabarutas. But I'm not quite sure where to go now. Most of the creatures in Gustaberg are weak and don't really pose a challenge. They give me about 18 EXP now where they used to give 45. My friend suggested going to the highlands. What do you guys think?

You should go to the highlands at level 10 then move into Valk at about level 14. There, get a party and go hunt the lizards. Once you hit level 20 you can move onto Jeuno/Qufim.
