Max number of ws's in a Renkei?

I was wondering if someone could say for sure how many ws's you can chain in a renkei.

At first I thought it was 3 for people under 65 and 4 for people above 65. This was based on that you could only follow a lvl 1 effect with a lvl 2 effect and a lvl 2 effect with a lvl 3 effect, so below 65 you could do lvl1->lvl2, then above you could do lvl1->lvl2->lvl3.

But yesterday I was in a group that did lvl1->lvl1. This leads me to believe that the original idea is wrong, does anyone know for sure how it works?

you can go on forever, as long as you have enough TP.

level1->level1->level1->level1->level1 etc

or

level1->level1->level2->level2->level2

or

level1->level2->level3->level3->level3

the easiest is level 1 all the way though, ending with a level 2. or at higher levels, any amount of level 1s followed by any amount of level2s finished with a level3 renkei.

Just making sure... The Renkei bonus dmg is based off of the last dmg dealt and the weakness of the monster to the specific element right?


I got my pt to do impaction (lightning) on a pugil. The Thf, using hand to hand weapon Fuidama'ed with Combo getting 200 dmg and the impaction bonus was around 130dmg. (Heh then finished it off MBing thunder for 140dmg).


However we tried repeating again, and the thf's dmg was only 90 the second time, and the impaction bonus was about 50 dmg.


I've also seen a picture by Russta (a LS friend showed it to me) that showed a lvl3 renkei. Sharkbite doing insane dmg (4-digits), and the Light Bonus was also over 1000 dmg.

yup.. renkei damage is based on the last WS used... so it makes sense to try and arrange your renkei order such that the highest dmg dealer ends the renkei

Let me make some corrections here.

You cannot combine 2 level 2s or 2 level 3s in the same renkei.

level1->level1->level1->level1->level1 etc
that will work
or

level1->level1->level2->level2->level2
this wont work
or

level1->level2->level3->level3->level3
this wont work either

Level1->Level1->Level2
Level1->Level1->Level2->Level3
these will work

Yeah, it's kind of hard to link Level 2s together when none of the destination boxes have Level 2s going out of them.

But the basic tenet that you can only climb the Skillchain Level ladder, not descend, is true.

actually, it isnt unlimited, u can only do maximum of 18 chains, because, that is the maximum people u can alliance with xD, and if it were in /help, it would be impossible to do any more than 18, only one exception, there are multiple sams with the tp recharge ability

Not true. With proper timing and hasting, a person can easily get 100% TP by the time the skillchain round gets back to them, especially if they use a multi-hit Weapon Skill.

Accutally even though 18 is the max for an alliance you can call for help and other people will be able to join in the battle so you can have a renkei as big as you want (you may actually experience this in the level 55 cap lifting quest). I wont go into too much details about that quest but you'll have to fight 3 notorious monsters. If you dont have any people higher than level 55 to help you, you'll probably need more than 1 alliance to defeat them (thus you'll need to call for help).

Anyways in normal battles you probably will never have more than a 3 WS renkei. Even when fighting HNMs we usually just do a 3 or 4 WS renkei. The max I've had in a renkei was about 10 WSs and even at 10 it gets confusing so I wouldn't even want to try anything beyond that

Actually you can chain lv2 -> lv2 -> lv2 ,or just lv2 -> lv3, it's depend on your next WS element.

Let follow my chart.

If you do Liquefaction (lv1) -> Impaction (lv1) then you get Fusion (lv2)

Next, if you choose to use next WS that do Gravitation (Swift Blade), you will get Gravitation renkei lv2. You can keep making lv2 renkei by do Fragmentation (Dragon Kick, Spin Rush) -> Distortion (Cross Reaper, Full Break) -> Fusion (Mistral Axe, Hexa Strike, Arching Arrow) , rinse and repeat. You can chain them forever until you out of TP, theoritically =)

Another choice, you may choose to close your chain by lv3 renkei. From Fusion, you need to do lv2 renkei in same group (which is Fragmentation) to get lv3 renkei Light that contain 4 elements of Lightning, Wind, Fire and Light.

Anyhow I kinda agree that long renkei is not really practical to use though.

You CAN NOT keep making level 2 renkei, once you make the first level 2 renkei, you need to either goto level 3 or it will end right there. You cant keep going level 2>level 2>level 2, trust me I've been playing this game for almost 2 years now and I'm in huge HNMLS and if it were possible we would've been doing it a long time ago.

You'll never have more than 1 Gravitation, distortion, fragmentation, or fusion renkei effect in 1 single chain. Once you see any of those effects in a renkei, it's either gonna end or you gotta goto level 3.

Some WS's have level 2 renkei properties; these can link after each other. these are kind of level 2.5. for example, cross reaper after a fragmentation renkei (or a WS with the fragmentation property) will result in distortion. On the other hand, if it's a level 1 renkei property WS by itself, it won't work. Sidewinder > Cross Reaper doesn't work, but Guillotine > Sidewinder (creates fragmentation) > Cross reaper (Creates distortion. it's complicated lol

Ah, I stand corrected. Yes, the newer WSs have level 2 properties. I totally forgot about those WSs. But you'll only be able to have mutiple level 2 renkeis with those WSs.
