I am just in search of the "Proper" way to play a PLD and not to totally F' myself over. Could some one please post the most important and basic details of being a decent PLD

Note: Remember not every PLD can be like Daddy...If you have ever PTed with him you will know what I mean

Hmm could it be get war as sub so you provoke, always make sure you get a good amount of hate so mages can do stuff and make full use of shield bash and cover? I think its just really common sense and I don't think there is much more to worry about...

Learn how to cast spells to get interrupted less often, make drinks to self-replen mp, learn to use skills at the right time to maximize hate. If I see you on the linkshell I'll explain more, gotta go offline right now.

Let me add some more to what Cedric-Archaon posted.
If you dont have money to make or buy drinks always have a bard and or red mage in the party to help you recover your MP. Always eat food that increases your defense and or VIT. Always use sub WAR and provoke every 30 seconds. If some how the target is away from you and is towards the ranger or some other attacker, cure the ranger with high healing spells to create alot of hate towards yourself. Healing the person that is being targeted at that time will create alot of hate towards you. Always use Defender (when you are level 50 and above) and never use berserk.
Always keep in mind that you are not an attacker but you are the shield of the party. If the party's shield is faulty, the whole party will crumble.
