Re: Pal/bst?
I have heard that Pup is good to solo if you are up to getting a new job

Re: Pal/bst?
As i've stated in many other /BST topics, /BST plays against the rules of every other subjob in the game, your skill at charming mobs is equal to that of your BST as a main job. This means you have to be both a PLD and BST of the same level to make PLD/BST work. If the BST is lower in level than PLD, charm will be met with resists.

I've tried it as a 75 BRD back when my BST was in the 30s. it was an absolute disaster, I couldn't get charm to stick for the life of me.

If you're looking to solo, the following jobs are very capable of solo:

BST, PUP, DRG, SMN, NIN, DNC, PLD, BLU, RDM, BLM, SCH and THF.

However, for many or most of these, you'd want to consider a WHM and/or NIN subjob to help them have the tools to be survivable as soloist jobs. In the case of BLM and SCH, you may also wish to consider a RDM subjob. DNC is a recent addtion to the game, but seems like it has very good potential as a solo sub, particularly for melee jobs.

Re: Pal/bst?
so because your sub job can never be the same level as your main . this combo would never work?

Re: Pal/bst?
No, what BBQ is saying is that CHarm itself is based off the real level of the BST, not the subbed level.

If your BST is level 30 and sub it as 60PLD/30BST, you will have a lot of trouble charming things, as your CHarm is only level 30.

However, if your BST is 60 and you sub it as 60PLD/30BST, you will have a significantly easier time charming mobs as your charm level is 60.

Hope this makes sense to you.

Also, I know a lot of people who sub /BST starting at 70 as sometimes, depending on main job, it is faster to get those last 5 levels, and you have LEAVE. I have a friend who did this is a MNK and a PLD. He said it worked beautifully. (but they are also 75 BST)

Re: Pal/bst?
The theory is that Charm's power is "capped" at your current level, provided that your BST is at least as high as your level.

So, you have BST60. Then, as PLD60/BST, you should be able to charm somewhat like a BST60. However, as PLD75/BST, your success rate with charm won't be anywhere close to BST75.

My sister soloed NIN from Lv.15 to Lv.37 using /BST. It worked nicely--her BST was Lv.50-something at the time.

That’s why I can tell you from the depths of my being…
