If you are just going to browse videos to embed you can do it even from Google if you wanted to, which loads faster anyway. But that has nothing to do with the new homepage.

Point here is the homepage is where you (used to) manage your subscriptions and get recommendations and previews faster without having to scroll through pages upon pages of videos.

Now you get endless unnecessary spam from subscriptions without any way to turn it off or close watched videos. Instead they make you filter it by subscription and by uploads/activity. They also made it so you can only see a few of the videos in the feed, which are usually filled just with one channel's activity. So you have to keep scrolling down or keep clicking on each and every individual channel button to see if people has uploaded anything you are interested in.

This obviously doesn't show if you only have a sub or two, but if you are subscribed to more than 10 (active) channels you get spammed faster than you can say loltablets.

The old HP allowed you to manage everything from a single freaking page.

Then there's the freaking obvious attempt to force people to get subscription after subscription (which would add even more spam to the main "feed") in a system that makes it even harder to find the less popular channels while boosting the popular ones.

And that's not even going into the UI itself and the new and improved layout.

So yeah, I have too many reasons not to like it this time around.

But it's not. It's just a different interface. You'll bitch about it for a while, but continue to use it, because Youtube is the place to go for videos.

Honestly I just dislike the grey, it's depressing and boring. It's also a pain on the eyes when you go from youtube to a site with a white background. It's not quite as bad as suddenly going from a black background to a white background but it does produce the same blinding effect given that my glasses do magnify the light that enters my eyes (I'm farsighted so the lenses are concave and so focus light).

It basically makes me go "ARGH MY EYES!" When I click to a brighter or whiter tab and that is my only complaint.

I don't know much about comics but I like this guy's ideas. He makes me not hate Superman and Wonder Woman and gives Power Girl some modesty.

Hmm, I think we have a situation here.

See, the posts here are ordered by date. Meaning that post you are quoting was the last in a series of posts about the new Homepage YouTube implemented recently. So I'll have to ask you to make the effort to go back and read the older posts on the subject, the answer to your questions and uninformed assumptions are there. In a very recent post in fact.

If after reading those you still have questions about the subject feel free to ask again. Even though you should know that by now my decision of not using a YouTube account anymore is as definitive as the new homepage design.

I preferred the old youtube layout as well, but if you can't figure out how to make the new page work for you, that's on you. You still have access to the exact same information, it just isn't presented as cleanly and concisely anymore. I have 50+ subscriptions, a couple of which are extremely prolific, and I have no trouble finding the things I want to see. Yeah, it's ugly and clunky, but worth two pages of drama? Wtf no.

We had a malware problem infesting the site, PiNG took the forum down and upgraded it to vBulletin4 (hence why things look a tad strange at the moment). Things should get more back to normal soon.
