| I don't need to wash my hands...
...because I don't pee on them. Gross! Most men don't wash after the toilet - Skin and beauty - MSNBC.com Can you believe they think my junk is dirty? I wash it in the shower, and it sits in my pants for the rest of the day minding its own business. If anything, I should wash my hands before I take a leak to preserve my junk's cleanliness. I mean, I'm not out there opening doors, shaking hands, and flushing toilets with my junk is all I'm saying. My favorite part is ‘Soap it off or eat it later’. Are germs really that bad? How about this: How Many Insect Parts and Rodent Hairs are Allowed in Your Food? Gotcha bitch. You're all eating bugs. The only time I wash my hands is when I'm preparing food for somebody else. I know I don't share the popular opinion here, so I be respectful about it. |

Dude you said exactly what I say.. You know how many germs are on that door handle you touched on the way IN to the John. I still wash my hands out of habit though.

I used to look at it that way, but it's really more a matter of using the bathroom being a fairly regular event (for most of us) that also happens to put us right next to a sink. Even if you don't need to wash your hands just because you use the bathroom, it's still a good idea to wash them because of all the other crap that builds up on your hands as the day goes on. Especially considering you were just in what is frequently the filthiest part of any building.

Exactly what Feebs said. You are doing things all day so when you take a pee break make sure to wash off the germs you got FROM OTHER PEOPLE. And just a fyi, your "junk" does sweat and moisture is a breeding ground for germs so you're not quite as clean as you think. Now for a horror story from the office.... I was hunched over a desk in a cubicle accessing the accounts on one of our computers. No one could really see me unless you made an attempt to look over the wall. So.........I was right across from the Men's Room door where a mother was waiting for her son to get done using the bathroom. The boys therapist stopped to chat with the mother about something and the boy came out. The therapist said something like "see you next week Billy" and shook the boy's hand. Well the kids hand must have been wet because he said something like "oh good you wash your hands! Don't want to be spreading germs! See ya!" As the boy was walking away with his mom he said "I didn't wash my hands, I got pee on them and they were out of towels!!" I bursted out laughing and stayed down, the mom shushed him and hustled him out. The guy that shock his hand is a old fool that should do everyone a favor and walk out in front of a speeding bus, so it just made it all the more funny to me. But now every time I shake someones hand and they are damp, especially if I know they just came from the bathroom, I get nauseous!!

This wouldn't work if it was too far away or it is one of those trash cans with the revolving lid. It also will not work if there is a "Press Air Dryer" since you'll have to touch it to turn it on. tl;dr version, bring hand sanitizer for when you get out of the bathroom.

2- Remember that 'germs' are not a monolithic entity. The bacteria you get from going throughout your day, shaking hands, opening doors, etc. are not the same bacteria that may be on that door. You may gain new bacteria from the door, but you're still losing other bacteria, potentially more dangerous ones. 3- There's the aspect of social responsibility and courtesy. Even if you aren't personally concerned with how filthy your hands are, you may be carrying bacteria on your hands which could infect others. Washing your hands, eliminating them, doesn't just protect you, it protects those around you; especially the young and old. And like it or not, your hands could probably use something to make them smell a bit nicer throughout the day. It's like taking a shower; you might not be covered in dirt, but that doesn't mean you don't need one. | |

Feba. I don't think you understand what I was saying. No matter what you do, your hands will be infected by the same bacteria you had before you went to the bathroom, and even more, after you go. Yes, there will be less amount of it, but you still have a chance to pick them up no matter what you do. You use the bathroom then wash your hands, you are safe, or so you think. You don't get rid of all the germs, most of them do, but you pick up germs from others when you touch the faucet to turn off the water, and open the door. Even going back to every day things you pick up germs from touching a wall, turning on your radio, even touching your cell phone. You pick up the germs that others leave there when they touch the object. Yes, washing your hands does help but, you can still get sick as easily if you don't. All that washing does, is help your hands not smell through out the day. Your body has a built in antibacterial as well. Its called your immune system. If your immune system doesn't fight off any infections, it will get weaker, as well as not eating correctly. Just like if you use antibacterial soap non stop, the surviving germs will get stronger and harder to kill. I'm not saying you shouldn't wash your hands, because you should wash your hands. I'm just saying that your hands will always be dirty no matter what. Edit: Ok, weaker was a bad choice of words. I meant it wont know how to deal with the infections or germs.

In my line of work I lose count of how many times I wash my hands within one hour. I always carry alcohol gel spray with me and use it after touching high traffic areas for cross infection such as door handles and elevator buttons. Mainly it's something that's habitual and behaviour that has developed over years of being told to. It's not that people think you are germ ridden it's best to prevent yourself from other peoples poor hygiene.
