| The Fairy Panther King | Home Surveillance
Alright, I figured I'd start with the friendly FFXI community because y'all are friendly, and seem to be from many walks of life. Our next door neighbor who recently moved in is a douchebag. His dogs are constantly running into our yard and crapping all over the place. He pitched a fit when my mom asked him to keep his dogs in his yard or on a leash yesterday, and now today our back sliding glass window has been shattered. Cops are on their way over now. I'm looking to get a home video surveillance system, but I don't even know where to start and what to look for. Any advice would be most appreciated. I want something for both day and night, recorded on a DVR. I'll probably be the one checking it every day for the first month, but I want to be able to transfer the video onto dvd for backups. I'd like 4 cameras total, one for each side of the house, essentially. Thanks for any help anyone can offer. -,-' |

He has a small 2 camera system connected to his VCR that he records to, but we basically use it to see who is outside knocking at the door and to keep an eye on the yard since there is pretty much someone always at home. The cameras are connected to his combo television/VCR in my parents's bed room. (He has a small tv in the room, and he shares a larger tv with my mom so they can watch 2 different things.)

After my old house got broken into, and before I got a security system, I just went to a sporting goods store and bought a motion activated camera for hunting. Strapped it to a tree and set the recording options. It used a flash card and you could hook it up to a pc with the usb cable. As I recall it wasn't too expensive, either. If you have a Bass Pro Shop or Gander Mountain around where you live, check it out. There should be several options.

What you need are bells on string. Was nobody home when the glass was shattered? Was nothing taken? |
