Seriously though, this largely works because bugs are brainless. Yes they have instincts and function their own, but a bug is essentially just a bundle of nerves in a hard shell; thus it's extremely easy to manipulate with electrical pulses as demonstrated in the article.


Animals and especially us humans are much more complex. All in all, very cool find!

Eh, on the level of thinking, yes, but on the level of manipulation not really. Shocking muscles into acting has been done with human for years, it's all just a matter of finetuning things really.

That shit is so funnie^^

I wish I had a remote control beetle I could send down range to do recons on IED's. At this point, I just send a 200 thousand dollar robot. Beetles would be alot more...cost... effective.
