| Palin announced as Republican VP nominee. palin - Google News *cackles* "What is it exactly the the VP does every day?" Who is it that McCain was saying doesn't have enough experience to be the President? What was all that stuff about on the job training? Happy 72nd birthday, Senator McCain! Those issues aside, I don't know if the people of Earth are ready to trust a Turian in a terrestrial government position.

To respond for real, it's a give and take. McCain has criticized Obama for his inexperience, which goes hand in hand with his youth and energy. He picks Biden to shore up the percived weakness. McCain himself has the opposite problem, he's got experience but it comes with being uncomfortably old for some people. So he picks someone with youth and energy, which comes with .. well crap, inexperience. Palin's reputation as an aggressive reformer is a gesture toward the "maverick" image that was once McCain's strength but has essentially been trodden over by his campaign so far. I think Palin herself can be trusted to that ideal based on her record as Exec- err Governor, but I wonder if McCain can anymore. Somewhat amusing that the two tickets have by their VP picks essentially become mirror images of eachother. |

Although anyone who actually thinks this is good for women at all is insane. I mean, obligatory Google 'McCain Hates Women' comment here, but even beyond that. GOP&McCain aims to remove legal and safe abortions if he were able to win. Even those reaching for their high powered rifles have to realize that she simply cannot handle the presidency, and in the not-unlikely scenario that she DOES become president for whatever reason she would simply make an ass of herself; which would hurt future female politicians and presidential candidates. ______________________________ Quote:

I'd say that Hillary wouldn't let another woman march into the White House without putting up a fight, but...I guess that's already happened before. That said, VPilf.com.

Oh no, I'm sure whoever makes the decisions in the democratic party has already designated Clinton to attacking and pressuing Palin, since it would be hard for pretty much anyone else to do without A- Being accused of sexism or B- Being ignored. I would lol at VPILF, but there's no way to pronounce that. |

Being a hockey mom is an asset against Obama's characterizing of McCain as out of touch with the average American. Assasxxxxtion? Really? If you're even going to consider that as an issue, don't you think a racial extremist would resort to that to get a black person out of the white house than a radical feminist to get a woman into it? It has the potential to bring the conservative base to McCain, especially the libertarian leaning Republicans in the West. She reinforces the image of a maverick, especially since she's fought against Republican corruption, which helps the ticket act as if they're different from the Bush administration. She also helps with the down-to-earth image, which is important given the god-like image the Dems keep giving to Obama (or does he give it to himself?). Obama can try again in 2012. |

1- possibly, but he just removed the single decent argument he had against Obama with 'experience'. And then when people start talking about her being in a beauty pageant, and the scandal involving her ex-brother-in-law that "out of touch" stuff is going to drift away. Not to mention Biden is already a huge counter to any 'out of touch' stuff that can be skirted by pointing at your vice president, even more than Palin. 2- We have a word filter? What the fuck? 3- I don't consider it an issue, I consider who is next in line for the presidency for whatever reason an issue. In the extremely unlikely event that McCain is elected, I see his health failing as being far more likely to happen. Still, the POTUS is probably one of the most threatened people on the planet; would you prefer Biden to fill a missing slot or Palin? ______________________________ Actually, that doesn't exist; the GOP just wishes that it were the case because it would give them an advantage. Am I the only one who thinks it was a smart choice? Palin is a Governer that runs a state, conservative by nature and is a woman. Where has he failed on this choice? I think the Obama ppl are mad that Obama didn't make any type of "Change" with his pick of career politician Joe Biden. I'd rather have a VP with little experience as opposed to a President with little experience.

The only words in the spam filter are spam domains and email addresses. I put a fragment of a URL in this morning to annoy a particular spam group, but as usual when I use admin powers it flew in my face. I think both VP picks do a good job of countering the weak points that each side's opposition has been picking at. Maybe now they'll be forced to actually address the issues. Obama did a good job getting the ball rolling with his acceptance speech, now it's McCain's turn. STFU about the surge please, sir. I don't think this race is as in-the-bag for any candidate as much as their adherants think. |

| Re: Palin announced as Republican VP nominee. Pretty much everywhere. She brings nothing to his ticket. Age? Nope, she makes him look even older because when they stand near each other you think "She could be his daughter". Change? Nope. Anti-abortion, anti-gay, anti-science; shit, she even pronounces "nuclear" as 'Nukular'. She couldn't remind people of Bush more if she tried. Women? Nope, she's downright insulting to women. She's there as little more than a token female. A few idiots will probably vote for her for the sake of getting a female in the white house, but in general she's a bad candidate for women. Another concern I heard brought up was her kids, especially the youngest one-- mothers might think "what the hell are you doing running for the Vice Presidency, with those kids?". Quote:
Watch the video at the beginning the thread. Palin doesn't even understand what her job as VP would be; let alone the presidency. With ANY president there is a risk that the VP will have to take office, McCain's age only makes those fears more warranted. If anything should happen to McCain, we have someone who has no idea how to even help run the country in the office. It would be a disaster. Obama has eight years in state legislature and four years in the senate. Before that, Obama worked in law. Palin, on the other hand, has really only some small town politics and two years as Governor-- and don't forget she's already under investigation for corruption. Obama has also been scrutinized, judged, watched, pressured, insulted, and stuck out to be seen for the past eighteen months. And despite all of this he has still held up very well in the court of public opinion. Palin only really has a couple months in the public eye before the election; and it's likely that much of the attention will go right over her head. Quote:
Uh, you should go look watch some of the speeches from the DNC. Hillary's and Biden's come to mind. They've been on the issues pretty much since Michelle's speech. ______________________________ I... I googled it. Last edited by Feba; 08-29-2008 at 12:35 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost | ||

Feba, if you're that critical of Palin, I'd hate to see what you think of Hillary Clinton lol I think you're a little upset that McCain/Palin ballot looks much stronger than Obama/Biden. Biden does not compliment Obama, especially after what Biden really thinks of Obama (you can't deny that) I personally thought McCain was going to pick the female Senator from Texas, but I was close Anyway, she compliments McCain ALOT more than Biden does Obama.
