Vista - Can someone help me out?

Ok, yeah this IS another Vista thread and you must get pretty annoyed by seeing these. But this one problem is really bugging me and I cant get ffxi to play at all on this new vista laptop I bought.

Ive downloaded the POL from the website specifically for Vista and yeah, sure it works. However, when I go the `Play` option on the page where you can purchase content ID's etc, It comes up with an error. The error says that I havent installed FFXI when I clearly have, its driving me crazy. Can someone help me out please? Would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

It's not clear that you installed FFXI, it's clear you installed POL.

i have installed all of the games on my disk (the original FFXI game, as well as Chains Of Promethia and Rise Of The Zilart), yet i still see this problem. My friend had a similar problem, and is also unable to play; he is recieving the same message, saying that he hasnt installed that game either

There was a thread in the "General Discussion" area where a user had this same problem. I told him to uninstall FFXI as well as POL and re-install the Vista POL viewer first, then re-install FFXI and obviously not installing the older POL version. He said it then recognized that he had FFXI installed. Now.... if only there was 1 solution for the same issue everyone encouters

Yes, you need to uninstall everything

then reinstall the Vista-POL
then install FFXI and all your expansions

some say its good to install Vista-POL then update it, then install FFXI and all the expansions

Reason why I gave up trying to run FFXI on my PC is that Vista just absolutely craps all over the FFXI client (POL runs fine ... I run into a solid wall trying to run the game, however) With my PS2 complaining quite loudly recently, I decided to not bother even getting back into the game. So it's been nearly 5 months since SE auto terminated my 2 accounts (never bothered to update my credit card info)

Anywho, just lurking the forums.
