This is actually something that bothered me to. They didn't call them manumes, or manarus, or manvann, so why the hell did they have to come up with manthra?

Every breath you take
And every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
Feba's watching you
Every single day
And every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
Feba's watching you
Oh, can’t you see
You belong to he
Now his poor heart aches
With every step you take
Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
Feba's watching you
Since you’ve gone, Feba's lost without a trace
He dreams at night, He can only see your face
He looks around but it’s you he can’t replace
He feels so cold and he longs for your embrace
He keeps crying baby, baby please
Oh, can’t you see
You belong to he
Now his poor heart aches
Every step you take
Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake

Mostly copypasta of the lyrics with a bit of poetic license in parts for the rhyme.
Because adolescent boys have to make sure that other people know that even tho they are playing a femal they are MALE
It's self-directed homophobia along with a bit of internal mysogeny
If you didn't want people to think you're a girl, don't play a girl char - I don't know any girls who play MALE chars (but reading the thread, it does happen - lolGirlka) All the girls I know play female chars.... Not that you can really tell the difference with Taru - but Elvaan and Humes, yeah.....
The way I looked at it, I had only four choices, Fem Hume, Fem Elvaan, Fem Taru or Mithra - Boys would have the alternate Male hume, male elvaan male taru and galka.
And GMdave was right. All PC Mithra wield a Vagina - Manthra is a nogo
I wish I could have uploaded a better picture... maybe if I use imageshack or something... anyway he is an absolute bishie @. @ really makes me ashamed of my elf... and I <3 my elf, but I've wanted to be a lion from day freaking 1. Damn you SE!
His skin is rather pale (like me >< but otherwise he's freaking cool. Can't wait to meet him. And Like I said in the spoiler tag, the CS with him (other than the initial intro at the beginning of the 4th WotG Windy Quest) are all later events that we can't do right now. Again, I'm amazed that someone was able to get this given how SE has been handling the .dats lately (like how they freaking removed /recast on spells we don't have yet to find out about new magic)
If SE ever makes more models like this and makes them playable, idk what I'll do. I really could not bare to start all over again, but at the same time.... cat sexiness chick-magnet! ><; (even some of my friends describe me as rather cat-like @.@ making it all the more appropraite an avatar ; ;
Back in my day, they were all hermaphrodites anyway. Hermaphrodites, I tell ya!
Which explains the high dexterity. You need that to make your living as a damn circus freak, ya weirdo.
Ellipses on Fenrir There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.
<3,
. . .
I always thought "Manthra" was a term used to describe a guy playing a Mithra and not a male Mithra.
The first time i heard the term "Manthra" was in a pt in the Dunes. The WAR in our party started making passes at the MNK Mithra and the person playing the Mithra said, "dude, im a manthra" The WAR didnt say anything for the rest of the party except, "later" when we disbanded.

Indeed, I've always seen "manthra" used to mean "male player playing a Mithra" too. If people actually mean a male Mithra -- and that's pretty unusual -- they just say "male Mithra", at least on Midgard. And even then the only one I've personally known to refer to his PC as such admits it's purely a RP thing.
What I've seen much more are Galka who utterly refuse to accept that Galka only look male and are culturally regarded as male, and have no actual qualifications for manhood...
...Also, why is this discussion in the .dat forums?
Back in my day, they were all hermaphrodites anyway.
Err . . . when exactly was your day? o_o;
I'm just glad it's not mine . . .
