You can get 320GB tapes. There are 1u automount tape systems that can handle 1.6TB and bigger ones that can handle more.

It only costs a small fortune.

Another thing I do is fill a HD and then put it in storage. I keep the original shipping and just repack it and put it on a shelf. I used to burn my anime but became over run with floppys/cds/dvds so now I just leave it on the hd and store that.

As for the cd thing, yeah I converted 250 CD's to Mp3s so they fit onto my computer when i was at university, that was 2 less boxes of shit to take with me.

Mhurron, is tape even cheaper than magnetic drives anymore? Let alone cost effective when you count the cost of buying the drive?

On a side note, I've been inside one of those tape archive silos before some number of years ago.

Of course you could take this as an opportunity to mock me for going in to Take Your Daughter to work day. But that HQ was still kickass.
