A friend of mien is housebound, he downloads all the latest films as he can;t physically go to the cinema to watch them. he also downloads US Tv shows as we don't get them over here for a couple of years and music wise... With i tunes we have to pay twice what you do in the US for the same song, thanks to rip off Uk so he downloads them via torrent or a specialised Usenet group which is invitation only to try and beat the film industry police.

If it can be downloaded, I would prefer to download it than have to search for it amongst a sea of people in a store only to find that they sold the last copy. I would download groceries if I could...

Illegal downloading is bad, mmkay? Haven't you seen those Illegal Copying spots they put on DVDs where they compare downloading to armed robbery and rape? I pay for my downloads, with the exception of ones that are free--most of what I download is free or a free alternative to something illegal. For instance, instead of pirating Microsoft Office, just download www.openoffice.org. Napster is a good subscription alternative to random quality Limewire/Torrent music--you can have a huge library as long as your mobile device is compatible. The program is kind of...not the coolest though. For some reason it causes my FFXI to have "ticks" (e.g. it runs for like 40 seconds and then it freezes for 1 second, runs for 40, freeze for 1....)--this effect is very, very annoying. I had to complain to the company.

Considering where I live and how much I hate licensed anime (which makes for at least 80% of my downloads) I'd have to say gray area.

Although I do buy soundtracks and other things (that the dubbing licensee morons don't touch) very often. Got to support the studios buying their merchandise after all.

I'm personally anal about having the hard copy when it comes to music and DVD movies. Idk why, I just like having the case inserts and whatnot.

The only thing I really download is episodes of Bleach, as I'd rather not wait 3 years for the current season to get to the US in some bastardized Funimation version.

I usually download albums and movies to see if they are worth the effort of buying. I know by doing this I have saved a bunch of money on music and movies that were not worth it.

The good thing is I found artists i liked by illegal downloads and Anime shows the same way.

Be lazy like me (at times) www.peapod.com , I know its not actually d/l'ing groceries but its as close as you're gonna get! LOL Some major chain grocery stores offer online ordering too so you could search the net for the various stores in your area.

I've used the internet for bartering and trading for many years now. I do d/l stuff that I shouldn't but I also do buy it if I find I like it. When my electricity goes out, I am lost. LOL

Gray area, if gray area includes streaming subbed anime. Like Callisto I'm impatient and don't want to wait the 100+ episodes to find out wtf is going on. Then its only Naruto and Bleach, haven't found anything else thats really garnered my interest yet. Movies and music, I like having the hard copy. Only time it sucks is when laptop and ipod get stolen and you get to reload 200+ cds, cd by cd for several days, to get all your music back onto a computer.

6 days off from work, I had a lot of freetime and needed to get it done. It sucked something terrible, but now I can start playing music on my laptop and not hear the same song for a week. And I still have cds sitting in jewel cases in my room.
