Simple topic started about a guy with a FF problem, yeah it was in the wrong forum, but it was a simple question so I answered it....

It ended with me being pretty much called a fag in the closet, just because I play FF lol......I could not stop laughing at the retardation.

I love the game and all, its a nice break from the game style of FF, but god 90% of the people that play on the PC/PS2 servers suck

Just scanning the avatars it looks like there are really only two big flamers. The guy with the painted face and the fat robot. Two people doesn't make an entire community--idiots are just idiots.

That can happen here. Mods don't hang out on a site 24/7. I believe they are allowed to have lives and other pursuits.

Crazy part is, PSU doesn't exactly have the best community out of all the MMOs. it's pretty much 'I look out for only myself.' Especially, when drops comes out. There's no discussing on who gets what, just a 'OMGDROPZ!!!MUSTCLAIMFIRST!!!!ONONONE.

PS was better off being a four player split screen game. It had the market just about cornered when it came to multiplayer, RPG-like, dungeon crawlers. Developers are starting to forget how fun it is playing their games with tangible buddies.

true, but I was also referring to how others reacted to the fact that I play both games, not just those two morons...I think they did that deliberately to get the thread locked

I been with Phantasy Star series since it began. I also was a major online player for the Gamecube and Blue Burst series. I then found out Phantasy Star Universe was coming out. It was making me think... "Wow a new game to replace FFXI maybe?" I was sure I was going to quit FFXI.

PSU finally was released on beta. I join instantly the beta and the game was absolutely amazing. The Beta only allowed VERY few people into it and I was one of the few. We had the coolest people I met over online gaming ever on the beta. The game was perfect in my opinion, which is hard to say about any game.

~The main thing that made it so perfect was the awesome style of the PS series combined with the awesome community it had in beta. Also, everyone knew I played Final Fantasy XI and knew that I played since the PS2 Release in Japan. (The real first release) They actually encouraged me to stay with FFXI.

Once the real game came out and was no longer beta I received mine instantly! I downloaded the patch and started to play. The game did not have as much as even the beta had quite yet so a lot of people were doing the same things. The fact is, the game was still great. About 4 months later, they had about 50% of the game released. When the game first released you could consider the game at 5% released, a major upgrade in 4 months.

Now that the game was released further I noticed a lot of new players joining. (A *LOT* of new players. Forums and game wise) This I thought would be a good thing.

If you know PSO/BB/Universe community they judge you based on your post count on the forums. I had about 9800 posts and a lot of people honestly, I could say, respected my opinion. I then posted a topic in the off-topic section of the PSU forums. The thing is, it is off-topic so I figured I could make a topic on anything.

I made a topic about a game I played called "Maple Story". It is a free game that has millions of players and has a pretty decent community if you found the right people. The game is a big hit world-wide and I really enjoyed it enough to put 1 and a half years into work in the game to get level 120.

Once I posted that topic, my respect seemed gone. Remember all the new people joining the forums and the game earlier? Well, it was all of them that posted in my topic. They all spammed the topic with flames and hate PMs saying how much the game stinks and that it is the wrong forum and that I was an "idiot" or "S*** head" for playing the game. It was official. the newer players took of the entire forum!

Ever since then, them same people that spammed YOU for the FFXI responses are the same community that controlled the game as newbies of the PSO/BB/Univ. community. I am sorry you had the same experience I did but, after that event, I quit PSU and learned it has turned to hell by many people. I am glad I quit that game!

I am happy I stayed with Final Fantasy XI more than anything and don't plan on leaving!

In my experience, the instant the thread turns into an irrelevant flame war, regardless of how I was insulted, I generally assume that none of the flamers will be subject to reasonable conversation and quietly leave them to wallow in their own filth instead of fueling the fire by responding to their idiotic ramblings. If there's a relevant conversation going on, however, I continue it. Some forums feature per-post rankings so that items like flames can be down-ranked by site users and suppressed by changing your post rating threshold. This is more common to political debate forums than game.
