Yep I always give away my craft stuff too. The funny thing is, my family doesn't put any value on any homemade items. I gave my mother this gorgeous huge cross stitched picture one year. It was a big deal for me because the large pieces take so long and I usually can't stand doing something that takes so long. Well its sat in a drawer ever since and I have to say its rather hurtful. And when I told my sister this year that I was making some gifts, she busted out laughing. Usually when they open them and see a homemade gift they crack jokes and make snide comments. What's funny is that yarn for afghans runs a pretty penny. I put $80 into the 2 I did this Christmas....so much for cheap.

Hand knitted clothes and blankets go for hundreds.. It's crazy.

My mother used to buy them from me and give them as gifts. So she'd tell me like four weeks in advance that she had a bridal shower (or baby shower - I looooooooove doing baby afghans) and I'd get the yarn and do the entire project (or maybe finish a current one, depending on what she was looking for) and she'd buy all the yarn and hook me up with forty bucks just to do that. No one else would really buy them from me, though I bet if I tried, I could find buyers. Never really tried.

People my mom's age are more appreciative of homemade crap. People my age are not so much. But I picked up crocheting after my Nana died, she was going to teach me but it never happened before she died, so I self-taught since my mother did not know how and I wanted to keep that craft in the family. If by some miracle I end up with another man who wants to have kids and I actually have a daughter, I hope that I can teach her how to crochet.

I used to know how to crochet and knit. I used to crochet m beanie babies clothes lol.

But yeah, I am kinda using a comforter I stole from mom's bed. This is primarily because I am too lazy to get a blanket for myself.

Normal human logic would read something like "I will wear the SHIT out of them", or if you still fasten blankets to chairs/dressers: "I will teepee the SHIT out of them". You could probably cook up some primal survival versions and so on (I will dwell the SHIT out of them).

But then, who cares about human logic?

"I'll benefit the SHIT out of them" has a nice ring to it, though.

but you don't generally wear afghans, at least not in the context I would be using them in. And I certainly wouldn't build fortresses out of them, they don't stretch nearly as well as regular old sheets, from what I've seen.

I would totally benefit the SHIT out of them though.

Alright, story of the day. Part of my job at work is to hold travel checks (Checks that people recieve as reimbursment for traveling) until they turn in updated/current copies of their car insurance. I get a message this morning from a lady who hadn't received her travel check, because I was holding it, and she was calling to discuss it with me. I figured that she just wanted to know the business office fax number or something....WRONG! Before I can call her back, I get another call from a secretary in her department calling to tell me that the lady does not have insurance AT ALL! And that she didn't feel it was necessary to have because "It costs too much."

Am I the only one seeing a problem here? It is mandatory for you to have car insurance if you are doing any type of traveling for the school district... I've been working here for 4 years and that was the most WTF excuse I've ever heard.

Got caught up on Bleach last night. It's another damn filler arc, but I was working my way through it because I knew Kenpachi was gonna show up and be a hilarious deus ex machina given the plot they're trying to work. I was about ready to call it a night and then he shows up to kick some ass at the end of one episode, so I kept going for another hour or so.

I've never been able to get into Bleach, Naruto, or One Piece. There's so many episodes of those that I said eff trying to catch up. When you said "Bad Anime" I was thinking "Banner of the Stars" and "Gilgamesh" both put me to sleep after so many episodes and I was never able to finish.
