I tried to watch Monk...d/l'd all the seasons in prep for liking it even. Just couldn't get past 6 episodes. Thats my cut off, if I still don't like a show after 6 episodes its toast. Currently rewatching Firefly for the fourth or fifth time. Best Buy had the season for $13 so I picked it up and I'm making my son watch it. Well I shouldn't say making him because after the first episode he wanted to watch it. He loves Nathan Fillion in Castle so I knew he'd like Firefly too since the characters are damn near the same. (Loved the Castle Halloween episode where he was dressed up as Malcolm in the beginning.)

Firefly is amazing. Too bad that show didn't last. I am in a bad mood. I was hoping my friend and I would be going out, but after numerous texts on my part, no plans were made. It's midnight, and that means there's still plenty of time to actually go out to some bars, but fuck it. I've had a few beers here now and I'm about ready to just call it a night. Fucking wasted weekend. And I had yesterday off, I was so fucking bored. And today I was, too, but I thought, "Oh, for sure we'll be going out." And then we didn't. And then there's tomorrow, another fucking day of doing absolutely jackshit.

Downloaded the first episode to Ghost in the Shell: SAC off PSN and it was great, felt more like a criminal investigation show, which suits it perfectly. Also helps that every last character is enjoyable. I want to continue, but I would like to see Innocence before moving into the TV series since that bridges the first movie to this TV series. I can totally see how the cast can stand on its own without Motoko for a bit and I'd like to, she's really just awesome icing on a cake of awesome. I'm picky about anime, but I really liked this one. Falls in line with the other animes I've enjoyed, such as Hellsing and Cowboy Bebop. I guess that is slightly because there's an anchor still set in reality with these shows. Cowboy Bebop has space travels, but when they populate Mars, its not really the different from the way things are now on earth, which is probably a lot more realistic than the future with flying cars and lazer guns. GITS is in the same arena, just with less comedy and more detective work. |

My Mood: | Re: Official bored at work / just shooting the shit / no rails to derail thread Welcome to my f**king life as of late. My nephrologist told me to not get the H1N1 shot and without it I can't do any of my work! I can't even go out in public much for fear someone may be sick with it. I've been trying to keep myself busy lately so I've been crocheting up a storm! I made 2 afghans (blankets) in football colors and 2 nice black and white pillows for Christmas presents. Now I bought some god damn cross stitch kits and I'm thinking of doing those..... On top of that I'm so pissed about the situation that my housework has been next to nothing and its starting to look like a pigsty around here. (Oh the guys LOVE it when I let the house go because they more than gladly help make it even dirtier!) I'm in a funk.....

| Re: Official bored at work / just shooting the shit / no rails to derail thread I'm glad you clarified this, for a second there I was going to congratulate you on twins; especially at your advanced age. But I will say this, Monk's later seasons are much better than the first one. If you don't like the first six at all, you probably just hate mystery shows or lack taste, but they do get better. |

My god man! You live in Kansas and you don't know what an afghan is!?? ....must find picture....brb... EDIT: Ok most people are familiar with these 2 patterns the most... ![]() The ripple afghan! ![]() The granny square afghan! The ones I make are a bit more advanced. These 2 are quite easy to make.

I wish I had some of the pictures of my afghans on my laptop. I crochet, too, and I usually end up giving my afghans away so I always photograph them. Which reminds me, I should make a trip out to Michael's and see what kind of fun things I can find. Most of my materials were left in my storage unit in PA when I left my mother's house, and there's no space for it all here, but hopefully by next summer I'll have my own place and my dad can bring all of my stuff (a whole apartment's worth of furniture) down to me. I like to work on multiple projects at once, talking like six or seven, so that I can work on whatever strikes me when I get the urge. Was also a good time killer for camping kings, though I honestly spent more time trolling BG than anything else.

Gamestop shouldn't wake my mom up early in the morning with "The Call." She just came to the basement steps and said "Gamestop just called and said that 'Call of the Wild' (Modern Warfare 2) will be in stock tomorrow night and to bring your games for $20 off."

Why in the fuck would you ever, for any reason, give GameStop your phone number?

Well they require it if you're trading in games. The guy at my local Gamestop says it's because they have to operate under the same legal regulations as a pawn shop so they're required to take down phone numbers for game trade ins. He said the phone number doesn't get used though, so maybe Dura dropped it for something else where they're allowed to abuse it like that?

My Mood: | Re: Official bored at work / just shooting the shit / no rails to derail thread I was just playing along with Feba. I preordered MW2 so they were calling to let me know it'll be in tomorrow. They take the phone numbers down when you reserve games, I think it is mainly so that when they ask your name they don't get it confused with somebody else in the system. I'm pretty sure the phone number has been on their system for quite a few years now lol. The funny thing is that sometimes they call for reserves and sometimes they don't. I didn't get a call for DJ Hero even though I reserved it, but I did get one for MW2. Maybe it depends on game demand and if it has a midnight release or not.
