At any rate, holyshitfuckingdonkeyballs am I bored. Boss is on vacation for the next 2 weeks, and I only have enough work to hold out until next Tuesday. All the forums I frequent are relatively slow today, and I'm running out of crap to keep me occupied/awake here. I downloaded all of the FFXI OSTs to my work computer and am currently posting to the Einherjar theme, it makes for more epic web browsing than usual.
Completely unrelated, I went to the movies for the first time in a long while last night, and saw the new Harold and Kumar movie. It was a non-stop ride of pot jokes, toilet humor, and gratuitous nudity.
And it was fucking AWESOME. I didn't really expect it to live up to the first, especially considering how little promotion I've seen of it, but it was funnier than shit. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 05-09-2008, 12:08 PM | #2481 (permalink) | | Loaded With Sodium Oracle of Knowledge Join Date: Jul 2005 Posts: 7,964 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 448 Thanked 1,591x in 1,001 Posts Gil: 3,577 Bank: 33,189 Total Gil: 36,766 Donate | Re: Official bored at work / just shooting the shit / no rails to derail thread Apparently a lot of people really liked it, and I was one of the few who found it ridiculous.

edit: Callisto, thanks for reaffirming my complete lack of interest in that franchise. | I actually still think it's relatively quality, while I've for the most part grown out of my potsmoking phase(not that I was ever a serious pothead, no tie-die shirts and shit, I just smoked often for awhile b/c I had a steady free supply), and they do use a lot of vulgarity/straightfoward stupid sight gags, some of the satire in the series is top-notch in my opinion, and some of the running jokes are great too(I'm sorry, Neil Patrick Harris in these movies just doesn't get old to me).
Compared to a lot of the shit that's being pressed out as 'comedy' lately in the movies, I think the Harold & Kumar series ranks a decent notch above a lot of the Will Ferrel/Jack Black type of BS that gets cranked out every 2 months, each movie being barely distinguishable from the last one. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 05-09-2008, 12:39 PM | #2484 (permalink) | | Loaded With Sodium Oracle of Knowledge Join Date: Jul 2005 Posts: 7,964 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 448 Thanked 1,591x in 1,001 Posts Gil: 3,577 Bank: 33,189 Total Gil: 36,766 Donate | Re: Official bored at work / just shooting the shit / no rails to derail thread To be fair, putting the word "Comedy" in the description of a film anywhere is enough reason for me to avoid seeing it. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 05-09-2008, 12:44 PM | #2485 (permalink) | | Keeper of Knowledge Join Date: May 2006 Location: Al'Taieu Posts: 2,687 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 465 Thanked 448x in 312 Posts Gil: 5,592 Bank: 41,001 Total Gil: 46,593 Donate | Re: Official bored at work / just shooting the shit / no rails to derail thread Callisto if you're bored read this gem, it should entertain you for a solid 10 minutes, it's old but still funny. ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~Aksannyi~~Hades~~75WHM~75RDM~62WAR~71BLM~~Mama Gamer~~<3 Cerealkiller~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 05-09-2008, 12:44 PM | #2486 (permalink) | | factcheck.org Oracle of Knowledge Join Date: Oct 2004 Posts: 6,912 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 1,707 Thanked 1,544x in 1,078 Posts Gil: 12,128 Bank: 577,882 Total Gil: 590,010 Donate | Re: Official bored at work / just shooting the shit / no rails to derail thread Murphie's only judgment of quality is how hard it makes him cry.

I enjoy humorous content. But generally when a film is listed as a comedy, it means that there is a rather large amount of trying too hard. Iron Man had a lot of funny moments, but it's not a comedy. Cranford, which I'm watching on Masterpiece theatre this month, is hilarious, but it's not a comedy either. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 05-09-2008, 12:52 PM | #2488 (permalink) | | factcheck.org Oracle of Knowledge Join Date: Oct 2004 Posts: 6,912 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 1,707 Thanked 1,544x in 1,078 Posts Gil: 12,128 Bank: 577,882 Total Gil: 590,010 Donate | Re: Official bored at work / just shooting the shit / no rails to derail thread well the problem isn't trying too hard, it's just sucking.
but I mean, most movies suck anymore. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 05-09-2008, 12:58 PM | #2489 (permalink) | | Dragonic WHM Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Texas Posts: 185 Style: Dark - Version 5 My Mood: Thanks: 5 Thanked 17x in 13 Posts Gil: 3,123 Bank: 19,665 Total Gil: 22,788 Donate | Re: Official bored at work / just shooting the shit / no rails to derail thread I am forced to see movie upon movie by my wife, but I actually got to see a movie I was curious to see. The Forbidden Kingdom. That movie is full of things that make it great. Action, Comedy, Action-Comedy, and the stereotypical drama. I for one liked it. But then again I am biased.

And I generally agree w/ Feba, I rarely watch TV or movies anymore b/c most of them turn out to be garbage, though I did see a few previews that looked promising for a change, notably Hellboy 2, I thought the first was relatively entertaining, and the second appears to be directed by the person who did Pan's Labrynth, and looks pretty sweet visually.
Edit: I guess he did the first one too, was not aware of that at the time.
