Reality Tv along with "gossip magazines" and the dumming down of programs is turning our society into a load of thick shit ludites.

Murphie, you obviously havn't seen the shit we have here on Uk tv, Big Brother, fame academy, x-factor, celebrity island, that celebrity hairsalon thingy, love island, wifeswap, super nanny, you are what you eat, dumped, the apprentice, Trinny and susanna not what to wear, fat camp, diet doctors, changing rooms, house doctor, temptation island, hells kitchen, celebrity paranormal project, queer eye for a straight guy (mens fashion reality) what not to wear, trading places, pimp my ride (Uk version with that patronising and cringworth Tim westwood) room raiders, survivor, back to reality, hit em baby one more time, Greese idol, Maria, Joseph (both shows lookign for a singer for Andrew Lloyd webber productions), celebrity ice dancer, stars in their eyes, wife swap. The list goes on and on. And 80% of these are on our standard analogue 5 channels we have that everyone can get (yes we have satelite and digital tv as well)

It was said in an artical that now 35% of the television schedule is now reality Tv, and 90% of that is over prime time slots of 7pm-10pm, its no wonder society is dumbing down. I now only watch about 20 minutes of TV a day and that is normally the national and local news first thing in the morning whilst munching my brekie before work.

Yes but you have 1000 channels to flick through, if you just have analogue you have 5 here. and when its full of this crap.... people that are bored and watch tv get this crap all the time TV is failing fast.

if you have digital TV service, there's usually no more than 7-10 channels on broadcast in the states either.

And even if you have cable/satelite, most of those channels are PPV, SportsPPV, Music, or otherwise mostly unused channels.

Hell, out of the 1000 channel directory my cable has, there's only really stuff under 200 most people will watch, and out of that I probably never watch more than a dozen channels or so.

Really, most of my entertainment comes from the internet anymore. TV has always sucked, it's just that we're just now getting around to realizing it.

Yeah same here playing computer games, watching vids on youtube or talking to friends on stickcam is far better than Tv these days.

Quoted for truth. I honestly thought the first time I flicked onto this that the presenter was hamming it up he's so over the top. Rap speak with a slurred inner city london accent is is bad but the killer is all the hand gestures he uses. They just about work on man whose 200lb of solid muscle in one of those white vests and something big and gold but they just don't do the same things on a rake thin mid 40s very bedraggled looking man in a shell suit.

The man is a talentless lump who writes bad attempts at modern operetta watched my middle class idiots who wouldn't know good music if it bit them and believe that watching Cats or Phantom of the bloody Opera makes them cultured or even free spirited and bohemian. Still, there are various tiers of Reality TV, on both sides of the Atlantic. For every "I Love New York" and "A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila" there is a "Project Runway" and ANTM. Well, maybe not for every one. The bad does outweigh the good. But you can't throw out the baby with the bathwater.

I hate reality shows (does it show?) I just wish my Televeision liscence (yes we have to have one!) pays for some programes I actually give a shit for i.e. more episodes of QI, nevermind the Buzzcocks, Mock the week, more US shows like Burn notice, Lost etc. rather than having to fork out for satelite to see them (of which i don't have so have to rely ona friend obtaining tehm from the web for me)

BTW, the colour for the "Administrator" title needs to be changed. It's the same as the "Oracle of Knowledge" and well, it just shouldn't be.
