To clarify:

I know where the term 420 originated from. And yes, I know why "I" celebrate on April 20th. It is not to be cool and it is not to fit in. Me and my friends use it for a day to get together and bbq and celebrate as tradition. We started celebrating 4/20 over 10 yrs ago before this craze hit.

That being said...

The reason for me even posting anything on this thread was because I wanted to spread good karma to all those who would read this. ---> Basic PLUR (Peace, Love, Unity, Respect)

And what i saw in return was alot of negativity in return. And that negativity is what i see as a waste of time. If you do not agree with the celebration, I can understand your point. But remember "To each his own"

Let me first start off by saying that I am one of those peace loving "hippies" that would never down on anyone for choosing to do any drug, ever.

Next, let me unload on 420.

I have yet to understand what people's infatuation with this day is. You know, because I need one day specifically set aside so I can get high. I need to glorify this day as a "holiday." In reality, regardless of the date, I would still make the decision to get high, or not, in a safe and personal environment. The thing that really irks me is that more than half of the people that are all "OMG 420 2day! SMoke Smoke!" don't even know what 420 really means, why it means what it means, or where it came from without having to first look it up. So now we have a bunch of people (lots of teenagers) getting high, usually irresponsibly, because today is the date of a certain number.

I'm not downing on anyone who chooses to get high today (or any day for that matter), but seriously, you need to think about why you are getting high. To chill out? For spiritual purposes? Parties? All of the above? Or are you getting high today just because lots of other people are getting high today just because it is April 20?

Try to understand friends, America will never understand us or take us seriously if we treat our plant so immaturely. So please, get high to day if you choose, but make sure you are choosing to get high for the right reasons, and not because your friends, or some number, are pressuring you into it.

These responses have been pretty tame. Post that you like Dragon Ball Z or some other Cartoon Network show and see how badly people jump on you.

I celebrated 3 times so far and my g/f picked up a quarter so I'm gonna get blasted and like fall down some stairs.

I'm not a pot smoker, I never have been, and I never will be. I don't fully understand what makes 4/20 so different from every other day and I don't really care. However, if you want to get high today (same as any day) go to it. Just don't get so fucked up that you don't know what you're doing and you get someone killed. Weed may be the least dangerous of drugs, but it's still got the potential to fuck you up horribly.

I personally don't understand why people like to introduce foreign substances to their bodies - other than food, which is necessary for nutrition. Just doesn't make any sense to me. But hey, if you want to do it to yourself, don't blow your smoke in my face and have a great time.
