Customer service common sense.

I know a thing or two about dealing with clients and such.
A lot of times you need to remind them of the rules.
Other times, you need to take your common sense and apply it.

I bought a 42inch Samsung plasma tv less than a month ago. I've barely even used it. maybe watched it 3-4 times in the past 3 weeks. The other day I was watching Walker, Texas Ranger on my lunch break (of all shows!) and I hear a click, then my screen goes blank. Turn it off and turn it back on, only sound no picture. Try looking at the on-screen menus, nothing comes up. Take out the coax cable, still the same red/orange scrambled goop flickering on and off. So its not the signal, its the tv. If it was the signal, atleast the onscreen menus would still work.

After playing with it for a while, I come to conclude, sadly, that it has broken down. I call the place I bought it, buy.com. They send me to someone in India who can give a rats ass about my problem and inform me that TV's over 36in are not our concern you need to talk to the manufacturer.

so you're telling me, the tv i bought from you a 3 weeks ago that broke is not your concern? i let it go...

call samsung, they have me 'troubleshoot' it. which consists of 'hard' resetting the tv set by holding down the power button down for 1 min. that didnt work and that was the end of our troubleshooting. now they have to have someone service it. which have yet to get back to me.

why should i have to pay extra to get something that buy.com and samsung should do from the getgo. they want to fix my 3 week old tv? how is a customer supposed to feel good about shelling you 2200 bones, all to have it fixed?! im going to worry about it breaking down in the future and once it does after the warranty is up, they'll really have my ass then.

ive sent and called both sides to raise some hell. now all i want is my money back for the large paper weight i have now.

*GLEE*

Ok now that I got that out of my chest I gotta say you can file a complaint but those take time, I just hope you got the warranty when you got the TV. Usually there are many service centers listed in there, they can check your TV and fix or replace it in case the warranty applies, either way you'll need them to check it to determine what caused the problem if you file a complaint.

You can wait for them to go to your home and do their job but most of the time you'll be better off going to the service centers than waiting (after all you are the only one really interested in getting the problem solved), that's how the system works sadly.

Lol, sry, when I called Linksys and got transferred to an Indian rep, they were very knowledgeable.

They also gave me their POL ID and they play on the Slyph server XD

Sorry yours sucked.

Have you tried the sledgehammer method? I meant to the Samsung tech that "comes over" to "fix your tv." (friggin Charlitans -.-)

Oh, and only cause I <3 ya, I'll be the one to say it:

Shoulda bought a Sony >.>

Re: Customer service common sense.

I have a some SE customer service for you. For some reason that no one knows, everytime I walk near the guy in North Sandy who you trade bat wings to, pol shuts down. After numerous calls tech support, gm calls, linksys calls, the problem still is not solved. I was told a month ago that they would call me back. Guess what, no call. If I could get off work early enough then I could call them. I usually spend an hour for lunch but my average hold time for them is 45 minutes. Needless to say, I just stay away from that spot.

If the problem is constent then it isn't a linksys issue I can tell you that right away. Network issues are not that precise, only things that are that precise is software and drivers. I would see about making sure the video card drivers are supported. If you do .dat swapping I would reset them (I found a graphic bug that happened with a .dat I created, the model didn't even have to be on screen but it would cause the entire game to glitch). Make sure there is nothing wrong with the DirectX version (The recent DirectX9.0c was beta when Microsoft released it, it caused problems for many programs some of which I happened to use). See if any of that fixes it, if it hasn't then have you tried a re-install?

As for the OP, that really sucks. I was going to buy something from buy.com once but I read their policies and deemmed them to be to shady to spend my money with.

This sounds like one of your game files for Northern San d'Oria is corrupted and crashing either FFXI and/or POL.

You might try re-installing, if you have the time.

Re: Customer service common sense.

He thought the same thing about buy.com, but he didn't think the TV was gonna break that fast.

Or at least that's what I think he was talking about (ya I'm bored at work)

PS Yay Sony, everything I've ever bought from them is still working, even my very very very old VHS and one of the first Trinitron (from like 20 years ago but I didnt buy that one, it was my mom ).

Re: Customer service common sense.

yea, what raydeus said. sorry, lapse in clarity.
i thought that too about buy.com, regarding their return policy.

i usually do go with sony. all my sony stuff is well. minus a stereo... then again, i've taken it to college, spilled drinks on it, etc. i was just attracted to the black lacquered bezels on the samsung tv. it looks great, colors are nice but apparently craftsmanship on this unit is teh lose.

o.O? Do they not have a 30-day money-back guarantee? Maybe your state has a requirement for one? Isn't there at least a 90-day warranty? Depending on what you spent I guess it may not be worth pursuing...

Re: Customer service common sense.

You'd think when decided between Buy.com and BestBuy.com one would seem a bit more appealing than the other. Nevertheless, I've found Customer Service to be a lot more helpful when I've shelled out over a thousand turtles for their product. I would think they'd at least treat you with a little respect since you spent over two thousand turtles on their television.

There is a 1 year manufacturer warranty on it. Meaning, Samsung is obligated for 1 year to dick you around on the phone then after 1 year, they just stop picking up. When I first contacted buy.com, they initially said that they do not do any returns/exchanges for TVs over 36in. Which is such a load of turtle poop. Basically they're saying they dont do returns/exchanges on ANY plasma tv since plasmas dont come smaller than 36in. I've been emailing buy.com to let them know of my issue and someone wrote back. Hopefully they'll do whats right and send me a replacement directly or refund my turtles.

I think the only real samsung employee I spoke to was the automated voice attendant when you call 1800 samsung. Gotta love out sourcing. I think as out sourcing goes up, customer confidence goes down. : \
