Newbies: Grim reaper of FFXI

Ever since this game got popular in NA the FFXI experience has gotten less and less fun. New players don't know how to play thier jobs properly, make pts, they're rude, and they only care for themselves. Heres a list of some of my complaints.

Newbie BLMs: Refuse to help heal and are just nuke happy idiots

newbie WHMs: Believes everyone in the world owes them favors for healing and raising people. Charge for raises and teleports, when i first started we helped people cus we WANTEd to not for money. When i switched servers and joined my friends LS a WHM wouldn't even give free teleports to LS members.

newbie WARs: Have no idea how to play thier job and think the job Warrior sucks just because they suck at it. Never get gil for armor they just sit in whatever newbie zone at thier level with LFG then complain that they never get invites.

newbies in general: Spend no time getting gil for gear. Just level and don't take pride in anything they do. Mages don't buy new armor, 70% of mages now wear the EVENT GEAR FOR EXP PARTIES before 33. And this is actually acceptaable? omg. Melees don't update their gear either and are even worse off because of it.

newbie RDMs: Don't buy dispel, they melee. RDMs should not melee its another person to heal, it gives the monster even mroe TP and you do hardly any damage.

Newbie party leaders: Invite everyone blindly. Heres the proper way to start a party. Theres certain information you must give and must know before you start a party.
What you must tell people before you invite them:
1. Jobs in your party
2. The level of each job in your party
3. What type of party you are making ex:EXP,Quest, or NM
What you must know before you start a party:
1. Are the proper jobs online LFG for EXP party right now
2. Is there 3 melee and 3 mages on
3. What skillchain are we doing
4. Where would be the optimal place to exp: Example: Use search to find the least crowded area for the mobs in your level range.
5. This is important - You MUST know the TNLs of everyone in the party to make sure the level range will stay good for an extended period of time.
6. Make sure all the melees are at the same level and the mages are at the melee level or 1-2 below
7. Make sure the skillchain you do relates to the mobs weakness. Do not use fusion vs crabs or distortion for skeletons

Newbie party members: Leave whenever the hell they want and don't listen to the leader and do not have search comments with thier TNLS or if they have the GCs they are supposed to have . After level 33 you must go and get the Yhaotor jungle GC and the altepa GC iits important cus thats 2 more places you can go EXP.

newbies that skill up in EXP PTs: Skill up weapons and mage at your own time and expense not others.

Accessive AFKs in EXP PTs. Do not join parties unless you have at least 2-3 hours to level up. A few AFKs is OK to go to the bathroom or get the phone but you can't go AFK every 5 minutes.

I can't think of anymore right now but if you want to add more to the list go ahead.

I know one, Have seen it 2 times in the last week

newbie WHMs: That put WAR as sub and Voke off tank!! they will not heal any but himself

newbies in general: Put you in a PT make you run to the other end of the map and tell you they are looking for the Sub Job stuff.
(I have no problem with helping People do that just tell me first)

newbie RDMs: that willnot help heal and just melee

Newbie party members: Will not look at the map to see where camp is, will make some go get they or just run around like a chickin with no head till they find you go get killed

That is all i can think of right now

My Fav. is the WHM/WAR that Vokes and only heal himself saying he wants to be a PLD

Stolin I couldn't agree more with everything you said in your post lol, I form all my parties so I know where all that came from, the only thing I will admit im not great at is knowing what sc's to do on certain mobs, I just know maybe light for undead etc lol, but I always see noobs bragging that they're higher leveled than me when the reason for it is I stopped leveling for weeks at a time to get my sniper ring, and just the best gear I can get..then I check them and they have outdated, improper gear (example, some drg have bragged that theyre higher I check them and they have pure defense gear) but I do make sure to set up a skillchain always and I don't invite people before giving them a tell, I don't immediately tell them the jobs and level range I offer if they'd like to know, some say they would others say I don't mind I'll just go...so anyways, good post and I know just where it's coming from

It is sad, and true, that many newbies are like that. But if you keep an attitude of "Teaching a young dog old tricks," then we may be able to better the community one person at a time. I know that any chance I get I give advice to newbies who may be doing something that is usually frowned upon: For example. I will tell them that if they are the party leader, people appriciate mature party invites through tells, before sending the actual invite. As a leader, the group is democratic, everyone's opinions count, and so on. You can imagine that the possibilities of teaching a newbie are endless.

The only way that this problem is going to get any better is if we the "veterans" so to speak make it better. Instead of shunning the newbies we should embrace and teach them.

Now I know that you may be saying "What?! Newbies are unteachable!!" And if you are one of the people saying that then look in the mirrior, you are just as stuborn and ignorant as the newbies who bare the same characteristics.

The FFXI community is a really amazing one, and it can only get better if the people who are experienced in the game give a helping hand to those who may be traveling down the wrong path, or who may have good intentions but are displaying them in the most incorrect way.

Esias hit it on the button,if all you can do is sit and moan that this sucks and all newbs are idiots without trying to teach and educate them then your part of the problem.
Sitting around and complaining is just more negative energy and a waste.
Although my highest job is only level 51,i try to help newer players figure out the game, sometimes they dont listen but sometimes they do and are very gratefull for the insight.

Dang, I'm new to this forum and all but whew, that was kind of an insulting blow. Not all NA players are like that. I take it this same attitude will be taken with the EU players as well?

Sure, some people really do put us to shame and make you wonder if they should even be playing the game but most that I have ever partied with learn pretty quickly.

I charge for my teleports, hope that doesn't make me a horrible person. But friends and ls members always get for free.
And just because someone doesn't put their TNL in the search comment box doesn't mean much.

See the funny thing about newbie's is you actually have to take time and TEACH them something. Yes, some are arrogant little pricks who won't listen to a word you say and swear up and down they know it all just because they own the guide. But seriously no one will learn until you or someone else takes the time to teach them.

If you don't like dealing with people who have to learn and aren't as 'experienced' as you are then grab that single player RPG game thats laying over there on the coffee table.

new mems...

most of the confusion is the bad ls groups...i mean the cussing and the ones using the ls for bad reasons ....gm know what i mean this adds confusion and strife and envy ....i had to drop my old ls cause they were bad... and taught you nothing ...i bought a new ls at Bastock at Galvins gear for 8000 gil....and i promised to start a better meaningful ls group .....i have 4 members that rely on me to make gil and acompany them and teach them the bad and good of ffxi....i believe im fair and i help my group with what i can......i mean im paying for this game about 30.00 a month and thats not internet charges and i dont have time to waste with ppl who put me in confusion and telling me i cant do this....instead of teaching me something ....i can use....i mean my god just telling a warr to get a scythe instead of using a onion sword at first is telling him a lot....
