Honestly, I always thought NIN pulling was underrated. I had a throwing weapon, can't remember the name, but I was in a Yuhtunga party with 2 WARs and the PL said he'd rather cure the WARs (more HP) and that I should pull. Honestly, that was the most fun I ever had playing NIN in the 37 levels I played it. I would love to see more people take NIN as a puller to things, they're actually not bad.

I can't imagine any of this touching PLD tanking in the slightest.

As for THF ... I don't expect people to want it, but it's just as effective as ever. Dumping a few hundred damage worth of hate on the tank at the start of the fight pushes the hate bar that much higher, so the others can really go nuts. Besides, there's always Collaborator if they push things TOO much. Still, people don't think much of anything that doesn't put up the big numbers, and half of this can be done with /THF anyway...

THFs have to be insanely geared at 75 to really put up comparable numbers to most heavy DD jobs, but it can be done. I've seen some amazing DD from great THFs. Unfortunately for THF, a lot of them fall into the RDM and SAM trap: it's fairly popular, but all the gimps jump on it along with the good players, and picking one up can be kind of a dice roll. Seriously, some of the most poorly geared players I've seen constantly are on RDM, THF, and SAM, and it's hurt the reputation of THF more than anything, because SAM will still do good damage (by most standards) even gimp, and RDMs are still in most cases capable of Refresh and Haste even with shoddy gear. THFs, however, if they are gimp, they just suck. End of story. And considering so few people really know how to gear/play a THF for maximum damage, the stigma they've gotten is just that THFs suck, which isn't exactly the case. THF is the new "lolDRG" in a way. But yes, SATA is still highly useful for NINs, and until 60 when other jobs can sub THF and do it. But THF is still stigmatized a bit by the community just because so many of them are horrible. I happen to think SATA is just as important as ever for NINs, even with the enmity boost they now have, some may get too comfortable thinking they can hold hate while doing less, and that's where a good hate plant will really do them good in a lot of cases.

| Veteran Member Allied Ribbon of Glory | Re: Yonin and Innin Is that a joke? Because I can imagine +30 enmity and an unknown amount of evasion having quite a large effect on NIN tanking, and if you were around a couple years ago, you'll probably remember that this game is not always big enough for two tank jobs. It should be, but it isn't.

At endgame, no. I don't see PLDs losing any of their thunder to NINs. Talking big HNM fights and things like Einherjar. Dynamis? Sure, go for it, Dynamis is stupidly easy now anyway. There are plenty of fights where a good blink tank are useful, be they PLD or NIN. Or even RDM/NIN (Khim comes to mind, easiest NM to tank) I think NIN will get more playtime now with these abilities, but eclipsing PLD? Not. And that's fine. It's like saying RDM can heal pretty well, but can they out heal a WHM? Of course not. PLD is still the tanking specialist, and that's fine, in my book.

Just in case people didn't know, I think Yonin is bugged at the moment as it is currently giving 100% tool expertise. Enjoy it while it lasts people =3, I sure as hell am (God I miss frontal sneak attacks )

It's listed as a currently known issue, I guess SE hasn't done their second emergency maintenance yet? I still haven't even updated, even though I'd planned to log in and give some alexandrites to someone who was somewhat close to her mythic.

They could also might not be able to find a fix for it yet, which I highly doubt though.

Well they said that it was an issue which means they intend to fix it. They probably haven't figured out how to yet I guess. Who knows with them? They never tell us anything.

I thought there was a screenshot with a GM saying that was exactly how it was intended? Man, if S-E is ever going to have this "more communication with the playerbase" thing down, they're going to have to at least learn to communicate with themselves first.

Well, I'm gonna keep having fun with it as I'm not hurting anyone lol and if SE gives me shit for it they can shove it up their ass. I've never once used a hack or any kind of major cheat in the 7 years I been playing and I'm happy that at least for now, I can freely enjoy NIN the way I've always wanted to =3 <.< I wonder how many ppl will cite that CS against SE if anything bad does come up. | |

They can't really, it's against the ToS to record conversations with GMs. Fucked both ways, lol.

You mean, you can't keep a record of some sort that PROVES WHAT THEY SAID TO YOU!? I guess they just know that their GMs DON'T know, so they make it impossible to use them as any sort of verification that something is ok... SE: {tempban} Player: but this GM said otherwise, here's proof! SE: {permaban} |
