Re: What body piece do YOU Melee in?

I have absolutely no problems tanking in ninja chainmail and haubergeon for weapon skills. I actually don't think I've even seen a nin in a merit party wearing SH. Useless in my opinion.

Useless is taking it too far. Scorpion Harness is arguably better than Ninja Chainmail. The cost is another issue entirely.

Well ninja's in merit parties more than likely aren't going to tank. There are better alternatives to +10 evasion which you won't use in meripo. Hauby(+1) is especially good.

And if you are actually tanking a mob, if you have decent evasion from other gear, then you can get away with using the AF body.

Re: What body piece do YOU Melee in?

I agree with Gyotsha. Only time i wear a SH or see another nin wearing one in a merit party is when we are fighting birds that'll steal sushi. thus instead of losing 50k in sushi, try to make up for loss off accuracy by using SH and other +acc gear.

Re: What body piece do YOU Melee in?

Now this is interesting: Sushi vs. attack food in merit parties?

If the NIN is trying to use attack food build, S.H or Hauby is legit for body slot.

If the gear setup has enough accuracy for fighting birds that steal food, why not use (or tweak) those accuracy gear with attack food on other mobs/camps?

Personally I have S.H (w/ other tanking gear) macro ready for 1st provoke, or holding the mobs that wake up in the midst of fight other mob, or when bad-pull/aggro/link/pop.

Fully agreed. There's absolutely no other reason for a ninja to wear SH in a merit party. I'll beat a dead horse. You are NOT going to be tanking 24/7. Unless you're in one of those old school merit parties with blm in it.

If you have enough DW/Haste gear the Ninja Chainmail can make for some fun times :3 (if only the +1 wasn't so shity...)

I just hate the thought of Tanking in Haubergeon as well as having to rely on a piece of gear I should've found an alternative to by now (SH), so Ninja and/or Koga Chainmail (when I get the latter) are my top choices for body piece. I still use Hauby for WS, though.

Re: What body piece do YOU Melee in?

But compare Pahluwan Khazagand with S.H, I don't see much reason for Pahluwan Khazagand.
