WS Equipment question

I'm refining my WS equipment and was wondering, would it be better to do 2 STR+ rings or 1 STR and 1 DEX. As of now, my WS macro gives me +24 STR and +14 DEX (I know, i'm not exactly tricked to the gills), would it be a good idea to lose some STR and add some DEX for Jin? I'm torn as whether I should try to max out one or the other or balance them to some degree.

At higher lvl's, Jin's damage is largely dependant on whether you get criticals or not, so people usually get more DEX than STR. But it's also important to have enough STR as well, as Jin gets modifing bonus from both stats.

For merit parties, 230 is the target number when adding STR and DEX, and 250 is arguably the goal. Having about 130 in DEX almost max out the critical chance, so if you have a choice between STR and DEX, and the total won't be affected (like your question of 2 STR vs. 1 STR & 1 DEX), I'd recommend DEX.

Nevertheless, it's your decision to make.

Re: WS Equipment question

I think it's more like:

Do I want to see huge numbers when my Jin does crit? DEX+
Do I want to see consistent numbers when I use Jin everytime? STR+

A combination of both is horrible. Don't misunderstand, Jin works off both stats. But I rather see a larger consistent return or a larger crit than just a ho-hum when putting in equal number to both.

My 2centavos

Re: WS Equipment question

I tend to boost both stats. As a mithra I have a huge DEX base but more never hurts right?

I've done around the upper 500s to 711 as my highest so far with Jin, lvl 60 NIN. Those numbers are off VT colibri's in the Thickets. I've got I think 17 added to my DEX and 24 to my STR right now. So I like my current setup on the WS.

Re: WS Equipment question

Awesome, thanks for the advice. As Mithra I've got so much more dex than str, I think I've come to the conclusion that no matter how much I buff my str, I could always make my dex SO much higher if I focus on that instead that the balance in equip would still work out in my dex's favor by a fair margin. I'll probably parse it out sometime when I get enough dough for a strong setup in both.

And little, omfg you s.o.b, I want u/u. lol
