How much have you spent during your NIN career?

Just to get a good idea of how much to have before I start playing ninja, (well its at 18) but utsusemi costs are kinda a lot for me, I don't really have a steady flow of income... yet. So I'm playing SAM and PLD, getting to a high level with those so I can farm and get cash to Ninja the best I can, but what is enough to play Ninja to a decent level with good gear etc.?

It's like impossible to ever put a set number, or even a round about number for this because. .

1) Different NINs play differently, however most NINs just play as tank. I loved spamming the hell out of elemental wheel. So my costs were probably alot higher then the average NIN who just used some enfeebles and some Ni elementals and mainly Utsusemi, of course

2) Different NINs = different outcomes, some have statics and just fly thru. Some go thru hell back to back resulting in lost of lots of tools.

So before anything else, you should ask yourself if your willing to dedicate time to play NIN. That's all you really need. Answer that and the rest will fall into place.

I took NIN to 37 (for use as a sub). I solo tanked probably half of that, while the other half was in two-NIN (and even three-NIN) parties.

As far as cosumable ninjutsu tools, I think I spent roughly 3 gil per point of experience. In addition to shihei, I also made liberal use of elemental and enfeebling jutsu, and used shuriken to a lesser degree. It was surprising how consistent that cost was from one level to the next (at least after lvl 15).

The amount of gil it'll cost you for similar play style might be different, due to server prices, inflation, etc.

i dont think anyone knows... when i lvld nin, shihei prices were 4-5k a stack.
and for an average 10k, i'd spend about 75k at those prices (other powders/food included).

equipment is just like any other job.

the thing about jobs like nin and rng or cor, is that you need income to level. unlike other jobs where you can sell your equipment to help fund your next lvl of equipment, consumables is just a gil sink. you'll never see it back.

getting to 37 isnt difficult. get another nin or war/nin and duo tank all the way to 37. duo tanking in these early levels is probably the more efficient way to go. saves you gil and makes tanking for your pt a lot easier to manage.

Nukes spell scrolls = 200k
Shihei = 1.8m
Kurayami = 800k
Hojo = 800k
Ni Nukes = 1m
Gear = 16.5m
Food = 800k

A lot of my low level gear I did not sell back, due to level capped missions, bcnms, etc. Some of the higher lvl gear I use was free from friends who quit. It is quite possible for NIN to cost more, as I am sure it is possible for it to cost less. As the others have said already, it's mostly dependent on your play style. Hope this gives you some idea of what playing NIN may cost.

You left out the cost of Utsusemi Scrolls. Ichi is 1.2mil on my server, Ni is 900k. Unless you ment utsusemi when you said Shihei, though you oculd have ment shihei, cuz you'll probably spend about 1.8mil on tools

Errrr or you could just quest it and get it for free (probably why ge left it out) And Ni can be gotten through BCNMs.

If that was the case, everything he posted could be gotton either from BCNM or quested. So I simply ruled that out as a reason why he left it out.

For Ichi, I left that out because I quested it. Forgot about Utsusemi: Ni, so add another 600k for that. Forgot about the nuke scrolls too, since I bought most of those. I edited first post to reflect this.

my typical playstyle was 1->39 pretty cheap other than gear.
40->50 $$$ i was having fun with wheel spamming (the levels go by quickly though, so its not too bad)
50->60 = xp was slow so was semi pricey
60->75 = a lot cheaper on consumables, I no longer carried any elemental tools other than tsurara once in awhile. expensive on gear. Around 73~ if you tp burn, you dont really use hojo/kuri a lot with a good pt, only on links. other than that they die way to fast to even touch you. each restock cost me about 1-1.2m i've done about 4-5 restocks in the 15 levels (this excludes shihei, and includes para,slow,blind)


As you can see it varies how you level it, i could have saved lots of gil on the 40-50 if i just did it normally

I dont know how much i spent though. but I spent pretty high since I am aiming for HQ's and such.

Expin sessions = way to much
LS events = way to much
bcnm/ksnm = way to much
gods/dyn = way to much
soloing things = way to much.

Best advice craft them yourself, or spend the weekend farming til you can buy a stack of 12 of each of the 4 main tools. thus it will take you a long time to burn thru them all. an by then you will forgotten how much any of that ever cost ya..
