My NIN gear at 34 runs somewhere around 4000k and I'm missing a few marginally important things (like emperor/empress hairpin and leaping/bounding boots). But the vast majority of that (3.25m) comes from the o.kote I got for MNK.

At 34 I spend about 100k+ in tools per 3 hour party, and about 20k on food.

The gear isn't really what makes NIN so amazingly expensive. Good equipment costs a lot no matter what job you play. But what makes NIN expensive is all the debuffing tools, costing up to 60k per 99 tools. Not to mention the scrolls you have to use to hit level 40 ninja are worth over two million if you just sold them.

A job like BRD or WHM (just to name a couple) can have a much lower cost per party, spending considerably less than a job that relies on using consumable items (ammo, tools) to do their role in the group.
