How to effectively solo/play DD NIN to 37?

I don't mind tanking. I don't mind throwing Gil away. So I shouldn't mind Blink Tanking. But... something about it irks me to death. I struggled to take NIN to 16 and just can't put up with it anymore. Is there a way to effectively solo NIN to 37 or take the DD route?

Re: How to effectively solo/play DD NIN to 37?

Sub PUP for cross-voke. ^^

I only did this for a couple of levels, but as long as your puppet isn't getting wiped before you can re-up your Utsusemi and pull hate back, you should be fine--of course, only PUP can equip oils, so you can't heal it... after some point the divergence between your sub level and main level will cause the puppet to become too weak to assist, and I've only done NIN to 20.

How do you DD?

Step 1: Level Thf and cap Marksmanship and Throwing.

Step 2: Buy Shuriken and Guns and Bullets.

Step 3: Gear for Str/Agi/R.Acc/R.Attk.

Step 4: Hold hate - regardless of who's the damned tank.

Shuriken and Guns do a lot of damage if you're a Ninja. ^^ Plus, Gun Ninja rule.

Re: How to effectively solo/play DD NIN to 37?

problem with DDing NIN at any lvl is that no one will invite you... so thats just that. Sure you can make your own parties, but alot of people are just turned off to the idea.
But if you enjoy soloing, as i do, find some slow-swinging Decent-Even Match mobs, ninja evasion get be pretty nice against these.

NIN really isn't a great solo tank until you get ni at 37. However, 2 ninjas or a nin and a warrior tanking can work very well at lower levels. I'd suggest you find a friend who wants to level war or nin and try to level with them.

Re: How to effectively solo/play DD NIN to 37?

While soloing NIN sub (I've soloed most of my subs because is faster and more enjoyable than noob parties) I found the NIN/RDM combo to be what worked best for me.

Before lvl 30 I used either RDM or WAR but after lvl 30 with Fast Cast, Nikkariaoe and Aquaveil I never got interrupted, also en-spell dmg and other things were really nice for NIN soloing.

I go NIN/THF and mass chain Easy Preys. Total in like maybe +30 evasion (Trait, Emp Pin, HQ gear, capes, earrings) and shadows, you -rarely- get hit.

I've heard people doing NIN/BST very well too.

Yea nin/bst is supposed to be fun, i really want to lvl it sometime.

As far as soloing with a DD sub, nothing beats war sub past 50. No Katana WS seem to be effected enough by Sneak Attack to warrant subbing it. I've found Double Attack to be the most useful damage dealer in any situation.

Re: How to effectively solo/play DD NIN to 37?

I don't really want to take NIN past 37, and if I do It'll be to take the blink tanking route anyway. I like the shruiken/gun idea, and I leveled COR a little for fun so I have marksmanship up there. I like the NIN/BST idea, as charm sucess isn't effected by BST level, only CHR. BST. I don't even have PUP unlocked yet, to much trouble to get an automaton half my level. I also have RDM at 37 for subbing my BLM, so at 30 NIN I can switch to that also. THF and BST are both 18(what a coincidence!) so those should be fun to try to mess around with.

not that bad unless your in a hurry.

spare time, it's decent with xp ring, npc fellows(assuming you've put some time to raise bonding lvl)

and you have many subs to play with.

Oh yea, guns! gun's do major damage on em-ish
