I'm curious as to why there isn't an "unlimited tools" ability like the RNG's "unlimited shot" ability, or why the tools are even consumed after only one casting.

NIN tools should just last for 3-5 castings and then break or something like that. It would make 5k worth of tools last for what used to cost 15-25k. Perhaps the :Ichi line could consume a tool eve 3-5 castings, and the :Ni line could consume a tool every 1-3 castings, due to it's stronger effect. Then the :San line (if ever released) would consume one tool per casting, or maybe even more than one tool >.>.

Or just introduce NPCs that sell tools for 1/3 the price of the AH.

Its the ingredients that are making them expensive, thats why hyoton is almost free to make if you find/grow the crystals and for some reason its 10 per synth (which is kinda odd...) while shihei is like Lv22woodwork and i dont know about the materials but i think SE rigged it to make sure we dont level if we cant farm. If tools were cheap then we would level 2x as easier and from SE's standpoint, the faster we level, the more we are likely to leave the game so i sorta understand why they are expensive and why you need higher skills to make this stuff which costs time and pays off by faster exp.

I think it woudl be soooo much better if there was a generic ninjutsu powder that can be used to cast any ninjutsu you have.

this would be called "crack". Everybody would get 100 alchemy because nins would consume ridiculous amounts of "crack" per day, and every alchemist would captalize on "crack". Suddenly, the number of woodworkers per server falls to 2 because everyone is busy making "crack" (the last 2 are rangers, of course). And this is how "HQ crack dealers" topple the balance that is Vana'diel.

if you look at how far the ninja tools are spread out among the craft, you will realize that you are *every* crafter's bitch to some extent. while i personally hate it, and my wallet hates it, and my small small inventory space hates it, hopefully you'll realize that it's somewhat necessary as well :3

Ninja tools don't have to be expensive and become a burden, but the people around you try to maximize their profit to the fullest extent thus making it harder for ninjas to do what they do best.

Good job SE, you made a job that depends on the market. What other horrors await us in this game? Spell strength that depends on the amount of people playing at that time? Defense that depends on the hour of the day?

No other class depends on undercutting and overpricing of abilities, why should Ninja?

to tell you the truth, a THFs role in the PT takes place at the beginning of the battle but beyond that, THFs really don't contribute to the actual fight a whole lot.
What about the whole idea of hate control? Guess you haven't started doing SATA yet?

As for inventory space that someone mentioned, thats what the gobbie bag quests are for. 16 slots for equipment. 16 slots for extra equipment leaves 18 open slots if you have completed all the gob bag quests.

I don't see the idea of having a tool be used more then once very viable. Maybe if they only stacked to 12 or even 50, but not with a stack of 99. If you get a stack of a tool for 5000 gil, thats only 50.5 gil per use. So if you can take 3 hits with no damage for 51 gil, I think its very worth it. If you have a high enough agility, 1 Shihei can last quite a while. I can't think of anyone that wouln't pay 51 gil to take 3 undamaging attacks at some times. Its almost like the perfect dodge ability, just for a shorter time.

If I were to change anything, it would be to give throwing weapon skills to NIN. Shurikin do awsome damage, but when you hit 3/5 or whatever, it costs way more money then a few tools.

Maximize their profit to the fullest extent? LOL. Unless you have high enough woodworking to get HQ2 or HQ3 every time when crafting shihei (I have 56 and I can't... shihei is trivial at 29), you will lose money compared to what you can buy them for in AH.

Ninja tools are expensive because Squenix has designed them to be so (via the recipes).

Thank God for those high level crafters. If it weren't for them, you'd be paying 10-15k per stack of Shihei. And as I understand it (from a post from an importer), prices WERE that high before we Americans came along with our mass production and profit shaving.

On Seraph Shihei sells for 6k a stack in Jeuno.

I get them for 4.3k a stack from a friend, sometimes more then a stack if he HQ's them.

I attempted synthing my own shihei once... it worked out to about 5-5.5k/stack, which is the same price as Jeuno AH and more expensive than San D'Oria AH (I got one or two x2 synths). Best case scenario is that I'm wasting time to break even.

Its sad that ninja tool are so expensive. Not only powder but also shuriken. Its one of the reason why this job is a little bit broken. I mean, its great at tanking but it could be so much better as a damage dealer if things werent so expensive. I hardly touch any other ninja tool beside Shihei and Tsurara because otherwise it would end up costing me too much. The elemental Ninjistu are really too expensive and so are debuff. If I was using them all each fight, it would end up costing me about 1000 gil in powders per battle, its just plain ridiculous.

S-E should fix this and make ninja tool/shuriken less expensive and also give us the San line in ninja scrolls.
