/THF vs. /RNG
Of course, a disclaimer is required:
We all know /WAR is better, however, NIN is my subjob for my mains (RNG, THF), and I am not about to level a sub just to level my sub (my WAR is currently LV1, and I plan to never level WAR at all). Please try to avoid turning this thread into "/WAR is the best" thread #54398753.

Anyway, as I understand it, the best way for a NIN without provoke to contribute to a party is to spam Ctrl+D. Money is not really a concern... if doing a good job comes down to spending gil, I have no problem with that. I play RNG, after all.

My first question is, if my main damage is coming from spamming ranged, why wouldn't I use /RNG over /THF? ACC bonuses and Sharpshot should both help with that.

My second question is, after I hit LV22, shouldn't I pick up a gun? Bullets do more damage, are more readily available (and less expensive, I might add), and my Marksmanship will always be capped, plus I'll have more renkei options (I use swords, as sub-37 katanas all f*cking suck... lower damage and higher delay than equivalent swords).

just level your war, leveing it to 15 takes what? 1 maybe 2 days? and that can take your ninja all the way to like 3X and will be a much easier road than trying to get in as a nin/rng as for nin/theif, well most people are predjuiced against them anyway

I have the same question... does anybody have more input to /thf or /rng?
i'm lvling my nin so i can be thf/nin, and maybe rng/nin later on when i have enough money to support 3 sets of jobs (I already have thf/nin and blm/whm to suuport)

tanking is just not my thing, and i dont feel like spending hours tryin to get utsusemi: ichi scroll, and defintly not paying over 100k, just so i can blink tank...

just search this forum for /thf info. Cloak (iirc) had a big thread on it and what he does.

My fiance lvl'd nin/thf for a bit to do thf/nin. It worked ok, didn't seem to have problems with invites, but i think that had more to do with the relatively low lvls. Heck, only one PT asked her to use ninjutsu the whole time lvling.

as a not i don't think i'd invite a nin/rng, b/c all the big damage comes from bow/guns +arrows/bullets, i havn't looked at lower level stars, but i cna't image they would be any better than +1 weapon and level appriate arrows

You still need blink as a thf/nin for pulling without taking damage, nothing pisses off a whm more than having to waste mp on a puller too lazy to use at least 1 blink powder a kill.
I dont care what kind of head start you get on the monster when pulling, you still take hits ranged attack or spells when pulling stuff like anticans.

NIN/RNG can do better damage than /thf with good gun ammo level22+ bullets) and a ws like split/sniper shot on flying type monster (bat/hawkeyes).
The amount of hate you can keep is a bit dodgy because guns are slow and you have to shift all your gear towards ranged acc+ because a RNG/NIN will have about 10 more skill points on you in gun/bow by level 40.

Ninjastars are more consistent damage but you have no throwing ws and cant swap in a gun without restting tp.
Having utsusemi ichi and Ni as 37+NIN/RNG lets you go a bit more crazy with firing good ammo without taking a dirtnap though.

If you had sniper ring +1, peacock charm and other fancy stuff I believe you could go all out with the best ranged weapon+ammo and maybe blinktank as NIN/RNG if you had a thf to trick attack onto you at the start. Pretty iffy on keeping hate if you miss your shots though  - something for me to try out with friends later.

Gun upgrades are a bit sparse , I have bandit gun(15), tanegashima(19), pirate gun(27) and a level 42 one (cant remember name right now).
You could use some of the +1 bows as well, again - the number of bows usable by NIN/RNG is somewhat limited.

If money is completely a moot issue for you, nin/thf till 18, then nin/rng after that

stuff like this can help you, but ninja is rank A throwing..

/equip ring1 "Beetle Ring +1"
/equip ring2 "Beetle Ring +1"
/ra <t>
/wait X time (based on shuriken delay)
/equip ring1 "Balance Ring"
/equip ring2 "Balance Ring"

spamming those level 18 shurikens you will outdamage just about anyone.. then at 28 when you get juji's you'll probably outdamage rangers completely if you use them enough lol........ definately the normal attacks, only thing would be barrage or ws

When you have tp just use a sword WS to skillchain with.. but you'll be doing plenty of dmg from shurikens to make up for anything you lack in WS dmg

very expensive though.. good luck... I think shurikens are 5k/99.. juji's 20k/99? I'm not sure

you could probably do great with normal shurikens into the 30s.. those things are still very nice damage
