I wish to be a Nin but from wat Ive seen here, it seems Nin is a pretty bad melee. I had though that Pld are one of the worse, but after reading the post here it seems Nin does even lesser dmg than Pld, cos Nin has to keep casting Blink to tank, thus leaving them not much time for dealing dmg. Is that right?
So for the 3 tanks:
Dmg: War>Pld>Nin
Tank:Nin>Pld>War
Is that correct? | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-07-2003, 07:16 AM | #2 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2003 Posts: 44 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 814 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 814 Donate | Also from a thread:
Blink absorbs 3 hits
99bag of blink ninjetsu cost 5000gil
So that means for every 297hits i gotta spend 5000gil? | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-07-2003, 06:53 PM | #3 (permalink) | | Senior Member Brain of Knowledge Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 1,179 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 1,008 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,008 Donate | those are rough approximations yes, lol. Don't forget blink2 absorbs 4 hits, uses same bags. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-07-2003, 07:54 PM | #4 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 59 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 120 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 120 Donate | Pretty much. While casting blink you stop meleeing so you're losing DPS. Its sort of made up with Blink 2, but thats still precious time casting and you're missing out on one round of combat instead of 2 with Blink I. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-08-2003, 06:30 AM | #5 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2003 Posts: 242 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 1,105 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,105 Donate | I've been blink tanking for about a day now and I must say, It is a real awesome feeling being able to take on IT's with complete confidence. I've noticed also that if you dont concentrate on how much money you are burning each time, it really doesnt become a problem. Dont think about the 4k~5k gil, think about the 99 times you can blink. It actually lasts quite a while. I moved up from lv 12 to 15 with about 70 powders.
The key is knowing what kind of fights to use it on i guess. Dont waste it on fighting just Tough enemies, go melee instead, you can actually do some pretty good damage. I probably didnt need to burn up as much as powder as I did leveling from 12 to 15 either, but I was just using it to get the hang of it, and cause it's fun
So again i think the key to getting the most xp for your gil, is using it during IT fights only. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-08-2003, 09:27 PM | #6 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2003 Posts: 49 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 213 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 213 Donate | I have been wanting to play as the Ninja class ever since I saw my first one last Sunday night. ^_^ And while I have been only been playing a short while, I think the trade off is more then worth it. Like Kirk said above it's all about knowing what your doing. What your class, can...and cannot do. Blink is a great spell. I think when you spend the time and effort, it's going to be worth it. If you're thinking about the class, then give it a go. I know when I hit 30 or so, Iit's going to be my firist choice. Regardless of the cost of Blink powders. Just think how great having those Blink powders in PvP is going to be when Square/Enix puts that into the game. We're all going to put many hours of our lives into this game lol. And you can always change your job if you don't care for it.
Then again, if you think back to all of the FF games, the Ninja was never the strongest class. :sweat: | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-09-2003, 02:15 PM | #7 (permalink) | | Senior Member Brain of Knowledge Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 1,179 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 1,008 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,008 Donate | | Quote: | | Then again, if you think back to all of the FF games, the Ninja was never the strongest class | Edge kicks ass man, what you talkin about XD | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-09-2003, 05:19 PM | #8 (permalink) | | Resident Forum Whore Brain of Knowledge Join Date: Nov 2003 Location: New York Posts: 1,313 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 2 Thanked 11x in 9 Posts Gil: 2,781 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 2,781 Donate | I dunno, in FFV(American) i had Faris as a NIN with 2 moon rings or something like that and she did 250~ with each ring.... | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-10-2003, 12:46 AM | #9 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2003 Posts: 49 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 213 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 213 Donate | I was thinking more along the lines of FFT and FF7, The Ninja in FFT for the playstation, they never were as strong and the dragoons and Wars, I was upset by that. Even in number 7 with Yuffie. She didn't come close to the damage that cloud did, even when I had them both at 99 . I remember back in teh day when FF3 (US) Came out with, Shadow, you could give that guy a pair of jump boots.. And have him do crazy damage. lol, even then there never seemed to be enough good items to use the Throw command with. I kept running out. And yes Edge was kick ass. I had a bitch of a time finding him. But in that game you could Dupe, items. :sweat:
I have yet to try FFTA for GBA. I wonder how that game is.
This game seems to be diffrent, in that I get the impression that each class has its own role in battle. Now granted, I'm a lv 3 thf, so partying, isn't yet a real option for me. But I hear my friends, and other people talk about how all the classes seem to have a role. As in Tank, or support. I was hopeing as the lv cap raises that we wont have to be put in such groups. And that the thf, or a blk/mage can tank too. ...perhaps its wishful thinking.. or the lose of sleep from this game. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-10-2003, 04:13 PM | #10 (permalink) | | Senior Member Brain of Knowledge Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 1,179 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 1,008 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,008 Donate | | Quote: | | But in that game you could Dupe, items | XD I remember that. Also remember blink was just a regular command ability, wish it was like that in XI | | ::Quote Selected:: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -8.
