My delimma
I started my char without much knowledge of stats effects and other such knowledge.. so I made the judgement that my abilities wouldn't be that much worse as a elvaan theif then a mithra... I went by starting stats which I now know was a mistake.

yea same monster same level me 95 damage or so compared to the mithras 143 sneak attack damage X.X, the mithra did have one item that i didn't have.. a emporers hairpin which is 3 more dex and agility. However this couldn't possibly have been much of that damage. Her sub was 12 warrior and her dex was a whole 10 higher base (lvl 29 my dex was 33 before items hers was 43),

So now i have started on dark knight with plans of Dark/theif. However I find this combo to be slightly boring(at elast at level 21). I am now considering going back to theif/ninja for the hell of it but it still seems that I have better choices. I don't like playing a tank (warrior/paladin) so im trying to avoid using the character for that. How is ninja as a main job? does it use dex or str for weapon damage? Will I just suck(without major ninjitsu use untill way later in the game when I have money) or will my damage be able to compete as a ninja/theif. I don't know if I want to just delete the character and restart.. but itf I find its the best option then I wil do it.

Can someone list possible choices I have? If my damage output with sneak attack and other theif abilities Is that much lower then a mithra then It is not worth staying a theif as I will always be sub par. Or perhaps I am doing something wrong? is 3 dex and 3 agility REALLY a major factor? or will my damage just always be 50 less then a mithra...

well first of all, what race did you pick? 2nd, do not be let down that a mithra has more dex than you, because that is mithras highest stat, agi and dex. For other jobs, there are a flurry of things to be boosted that don't go off of base stats like str agi dex vit mnd, etc. Accuracy+ is a big thing for melee damage dealing jobs. for a ninja evasion+ is the most important then attack. paladins are based more on defence+ then mnd+. Its all relative to what you enjoy, do not get discouraged and delete your character because of that, the game offers a wide variety of jobs to chose from, just pick one that you like and try to customize your character to fit the job as best you can.

I am...
an elvaan theif. i rushed into creation assuming that sicne the dex wa only 2 less then a mithras at creation i would be fine, but ti turns out elvaan are the lowest dex after leveling.. So my damage is not on par , its not even average from what i have seen.

I have turned the character into a Dark knight/theif for now.. and will most likely start a new character to make the theif ninja as (of course) a mithra
