Re: FFXI sequal in the works
Having grown up on FF1, FF4, and FF6, I'm really enjoying FFXI, particularly because it has so many of the elements of FF1. I also think that any Final Fantasy MMO should have the same level of difficulty as FFXI. I agree that it will probably be a while before we see the next gen MMO from SE, and I suspect it will be in a completely different world (with familiar elements), like pretty much every other FF-series game SE has made. Being a FF1 player at heart, it would probably take some adjustment if the game were more futuristic, but I'm sure any new MMO offering from SE will be solid.

Based on post below... It might be nice not to have to zone every time you "run away", too.

Im not touching Vista with anybodie's pole ten foot or not. It's SE they wont water down FFXI just to be a Million user + game because the human race are sheep who will do what everybody else does because they can't think for themselves and have no meaningful input into society and really suck....sorry for the run on sentence/rant ^^..... I hate people haha!

But With SE first foray into a MMO they will do much better. They improved FFXI just with the addition of Aht Urghan into almost a new game. All I want in the next game is JP input. and i'l be happy.

.. and I really dont want FFVII online.... please FFVII isnt the best game evar!!, It was good just not mmo worthy, keep Vana'Diel or a new world and time frame, but keep the Crystal Age background.

How could you have FFVII online? Theres not much of a MMO there, good story, but theres just not much outside of that.

No one has suggested anything remotely close to FF VII online, nor stated it's the best game ever.

I'm not sure if "the best game evar!!" was an attempt to mock those who are extremely fond of Final Fantasy VII (it appears to be a sardonic phrase), but if it was, it was quite uncalled for.

Re: FFXI sequal in the works
Not FFVII online. That would be useless.

I was hoping more for Vana'diel many years in the future where our characters would be known as great great grandfathers/mothers. (Give or take a "great".) That is, if they were alive then... A logical choice for that setup, and still having FFXI content updates/expansions, would either be a great destruction or leave out the mention of history.

We will see what happens... Could be Vana'diel or another world, another time, or not even Final Fantasy. I really cannot wait to find out.

If you read through some of the posts people have mentioned it.. so i didnt say this out of the blue.. And i'm really not trying to start anything. But with that said. I don't think people who started Final Fantasy at FFVII realize the history of the series. So the calls for another FFVII related game just annoys me yes. I did mock the l337 who think of FFVII as the best game evar, but not those like myself who think it's a great game but not the end all ,be all in Final Fantasy.

put another way, I love FFXI, I love Triel, I think FFXI is the best FF evar because the story is highly focused on me, not some predetermined hero/heroine. I feel that connection with my toons. BUT if SE decides to go a non-Vana'diel route, I really want to see what they can come up with, Because maybe FFXI v2.0 will be the best FF Evar.

... and another thing GIVE MY CHARACTERS DIALOGUE YOU TURDS.....I'm tired of nodding and shaking my head, Let me have speech darn it.

Im afraid of FF a hundred years from the current time, Sandy would be gone i think. But i think i could see some beastmen races as playable.

Bricklayer:
Yes, I have considered the possibilty of another franchise becoming an MMO. Yet, I would rather it have chocobos.

Deltran:
I believe San'doria would stay strong, yet Bastok would be the one to change Vana'Diel. Each Nation would likely have it's own technology. Windurst would be interesting.

I hope Sandy would still be there, would be cool to see if their are still 2 group of knights, but most NPCs iv heard from seem to think its at its decline. Or eve if annother cival war broke out. Not sure why tho the current royal family seems to care for all people well. Sad how im saying this like its right from the news or something...

Guess if I had to ask a question it would be if SE will stay true to FFXI and have all the things that current players love about the game? Or will this be something entirely different alienating many old players?
Wrong question. SE can definitely pull it off, it's a simple matter of "will they?"...

Or could it be Humes have restored the environment around Gustaberg? Nah.. I didn't think so either....
It reminds me of a different-world Jueno.

Gunblades are 17th-19th century weapons, historically. At least, I think so. But, nothing futuristic about gunblades.

If this new one is anything like the video then it may be futuristic. The scene looked advanced and not just graphic-wise... Though this could all mean nothing if it was only a tech demo for the engine.
Agreed.

Re: FFXI sequal in the works
Imo, right now FFXI is nearly perfect, with many many many many little problems that together amass into bigger issues, but right now when someone tells me to try a new game, i just laugh. FFXI is simply my game of choice.

So, wether this be a whole new game, a "sequel" that takes place in the same world, with the same races, a remake, or just a graphic enhancement, i dont care, all i REALLY want is for it to be released WORLDWIDE on the same day.

When i started to play FFXI... all the people i wanted to play with had HNMLS or were too busy with their own things after reaching 75, i hated that... i wanted to play with friends that i knew from around the world but they were already into the game for months.. even a year or 2! And everything was handed out to me, i sort of wanted to have learned where to hunt on my own, i didnt want someone to guide me.. i wanted to explore and be amazed, but with people telling me what to buy, where to go, who to talk to... it didnt happen. I had the best time in game when i completed promys and was able to explore tavnazia by myself and some people that were also there for the first time, it was simply great and i want that feeling of exploring in the new game.

So please SE... its all i ask...
