They made a cell phone game called "Before Crisis" You play as the turks before the sephiroth incident. I think SE is playing around with a few ideas. They did make a tech demo of VII for E-3. They might be planning a remake.

I know, and I can't even figure out why. It would be a freaking cash cow. And would surely do a hell of a lot better than 90% of the crap they put out. Everyone would buy it if they did it. I can't figure out why they won't.

I dont really want a remake of VII. I'd rather have a new story with the same charaters, battle system, and materia system. Ya know, something new with the old characters. Could you imagine knights of the round in a high quality summon sequence.

Hehe, while I would definitely buy and enjoy every moment of a remake, I don't think it's really mandatory.

Square Enix's excuse for not doing it is that they simply don't have the work force to do it at the moment. As everyone knows, Square Enix is made up of multiple development teams that work on many titles at one time. According to Yoshinori Kitase, the Final Fantasy VII Tech Demo for PS3 took months to create, even though it ran less than a minute. Square Enix says that to recreate the entire game and hope for it to all be of that quality, it would take years and money they can't spare.

Tetsuya Nomura has been quoted to say that he'd be interested in doing it, but that he also does not have the time (he was working on Kingdom Hearts II and Advent Children at the time, and I wouldn't be surprised if he was working on Kingdom Hearts III by now). So, the interest is there, in both the developer and the fans. However, I think that if Square Enix were to hope to faithfully recreate FFVII for the PS3 in every aspect, it would really knock them off a schedule of having a decent number of "real" Final Fantasy titles this generation. According to them, there are absolutely no plans to do it, so if they were to start from here, they may not even be done by the end of this generation.

Rumour has it that Yoshinori Kitase is directing Final Fantasy XIII. This means that the series isn't taking a permanent directorial turnaround after FFXII. I'm sure Kitase will refuse to fail to bring us another of the best titles in the series.

Well now that the rumors I heard about a FFVII remake on the PS3 have been dispelled, I'm kind of sad. =(

When the English version comes out, I am going to rip the subtitles off of that DVD, take the video and audio tracks from the Japanese DVD, merge them together on to a new DVD so it is Japanese audio and English subtitles. MUA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

After they start selling PS3 and all the new game systems it's only a matter of time before they make a super game station that can play all games from all systems. Then we might get a remake of FFVII.

I hope america and europe will not spoil everything with a silly voice cast......... i love Advent Children in japanese and i am not sure that the other nations would bring the same spirit with their voices....

And about the remake, i think they will do it.
I mean, seriously, they did Last order, before crisis, the anime, the videogame of Vincent, Advent Children, and they will not do a remake?

And he said they didnt even use even a bit of the PS3 power (so he claimed in the interview a while back) Geez.. wonder how long it would take to get the best out of it.. A remake is really what most fans want and they are just making more and more games with "bits" of FFVII to see if it cuts the cake. I said its more fuel to the fire.

Heck, by the time all of the Xenosaga games come out, ill be in my 20s to get the last game. I wouldnt mind waiting a few years, I could wait because knowing FFVII-remake is on the horizon.. It could be after FF13 for all we know. Which is a loooong time for them to decided to get started and be well into the PS3 by then.

Sorry to bust your bubble, but the lower-than-expected sales of the Xenosaga titles, in addition to plenty of problems with the development team, have created an early end for the franchise.

Episode III will be the final Xenosaga chapter.

Rofl.. I already saw the movie because I have the Japanese DVD of it..... You could just play the movie and you should be able to add subtitles and click on English..... ^^

You don't have to go through that much trouble.. And if you did.. then I would just buy the english version lol.
