New SE MMORPG in the works

The idea of SE making a new MMO sounds really dumb to me honestly. FFXI players have enough going for them in Vana'diel. If they came out with a new MMO right now it wouldn't be a good marketing move. Think about it. You have two MMOs on the market. Both are in-depth games and can take an eternity to get anything worthwhile accomplished. Players don't usually play two MMOs like that at once unless they really have nothing going for them, I.e. a life. So what would happen? One of the MMOs would totally be abandoned, so you have a game on the market making no money and another making a good profit. A new MMO would drive SE into debt.

To sum it up. FFXI: Spirits within.

But I saw the tech demos for that one guy put up. They would make a great expansion, I think. But a new MMO? I really don't think so. Just a rumor, that's all there is to it.

By the time SE developes a new MMO it will be serveral years from now, and plenty of people will be willing/ready to leave FFXI for it I'd imagine.

FFXI should've been PC-only... it could've been so much better. =(

I tried that PC only tack with Galaxies. To be honest, I hate companies forcing people to sink $3k+ into a machine to run a game just because a few guys want to see the sweat coming out of their characters pores. Because, in essence the way games are today, if you're wanting *better* than 360/PS3 graphics, then everyone and their brother would have to have a top of the line machine, which is not a good business move if you want to reach the maximum number of fans. There are many people who can't afford that. While one would point out that there are plenty who can, a company is going to be looking less at that and more at how many they *could* be reaching if they did something else. And with S-E having a large console based fandom already, I seriously doubt they'd ever totally abandon it.

If this were some offshoot of the WoW fanbase, then yes, I could see it sticking to PC exclusive, as that's where all their fanbase naturally lies.

Me, personally, I'm not finished enough with XI yet. And if it's PC exclusive to where I have to go out and either build my own system or buy an Alienware for a small fortune, then I really don't need it. These MMO's aren't *that* entertaining. If I had that kind of money to toss about I'd make a hefty payment towards some of my bills to ease my monthly stresses.

If I had that kind of money to toss about I'd make a hefty payment towards some of my bills to ease my monthly stresses.

Goes for me to, this game has sooo much life left in it for me. Theres simply to much to do, I've never stuck with any single mmo for this long except for ffxi. Its simply an amazing game to me.

Hah, you know what? It kind of does. But I do agree that years from now SE will release a new MMORPG, there's no doubt, but it seems to me that some think it will be sooner or later. I'm thinking that maybe... six years? Yeah Six sounds good to me, maybe less. But in two years? Hardly.

My point was that I don't believe magazine sources. I remember Game Informer ((Was it game informer? Don't remember, but they had an article)) Told us about "OMFGBBQ! They're remaking FFVII~FFIX" A year later... nothing.. later nothing, nothing, nothing... So here I sit today without my FF remakes. ((Cry))

I look forward to many happy years on FFXI until the day comes where I have to move up to a new MMORPG. Which brings up somthing else. I'm so addicted to FFXI that I haven't even played KHII yet! ((Shock and alarm!))

Lets not forget, that FFXI was originally made for the PS2 ( released on PS2 in Japan), came out on comp here in Na, then to PS2.

PS3 will have Blueray technology which is by far ahaead of the gaming generation, A standalone blueray disc player goes well above $1,000.00 (us) , PS3 also has a processor that is going to be able to do everything at once. I think the PS3 will live up to the hype. I grew up when Atari was out, CelecoVision, I still have my Nintendo and Sega, and the Atari lol.
Now play games like we have today and go back to the atari, you will be like wtf kept kids inside to play this? lol.

PS3 is "Supposed" to have a FFXIII on it sometime later. FFXII was supposed to be a PS3 release but moved to PS2 instead.

Fantasy Earth .... been waiting to see when this comes to NA, will it be PS2,3 or 360?
