Dragon Quest VIII Release Date Announced + Major Bonus!

Square Enix has announced the North American release date for DRAGON QUEST VIII, the seminal Playstation 2 RPG that has sold upwards of 4 million copies in Japan alone since its release earlier this year. In addition, Square Enix anonounced that the title will ship in a 2-disc special edition, which includes a playable demo of the upcoming North American version FINAL FANTASY XII.

The Dragon Quest series is so popular, in fact, that the Japanese government does not allow any games in the series to be released on a weekday, otherwise streets will be filled with the millions of eager gamers trying to get a copy of the game and no one will be able to make it to work, if they had planned on coming in rather than stay at home with the new game.

The eighth installment in Square Enix's most popular Japanese franchise will ship to North American retailers on November 22nd, 2005. Get those preorders started, folks. There's going to be plenty of hungry Square Enix fans waiting to get their hands on the first Playstation 2 version of Dragon Quest, and the first ever playable demo publicly released for Final Fantasy XII.

Square Enix has announced that the release date for Dragon Quest VIII has moved up a week. It's now scheduled for release on November 15th, instead of November 22nd.

When I see newer final fantasy, the futher away it is from it's original feeling

But... when I saw DQ8, I see the same DQ I used to play when i was only 5 years old. It brings back all memories, all feelings, everything >.< I'm definitely getting DQ8. But I no longer care for FF12.

Well, I think that's the major difference between the two series, and why they both continue to be insanely popular. Dragon Quest has never strayed from the original RPG formula, but never fails to bring an exciting new experience with each title, while every Final Fantasy game is completely different from the last, and each one brings a new and innovative idea to the RPG genre.

Woo its coming out in 2 years over here then(w--t for the EU gameing release date thinger!), and thats if it even comes out at all... x.x; I really wanna play it too. ; ;

Oh btw, not sure about the US, but the EU PSone re-release version of FF6 came with a FFX demo so this is the 2nd publicly released demo technecally... :3
