Don't forget that you have to be close enough to be actually invited to the party (same region), unless you form party before the leader goes to wherever they're going. With enough advance planning this could be useful for headstones and Parradamo Tor and stuff, but zooming across half the world, not so much. Oh, another one: Antica gate. It's a pain in the butt to re-collect all the people who went to flip switches and have the person who was at the gate let them all in one at a time, but if the leader is the one standing at the gate, everyone else can just nexus to him/her. The ledge in Sauromugue -- it's not as evil as it was before, but now it's even less evil. Ditto the island in Batallia, although it will still take at least two people to get the leader there. But all of those specialized uses rely on people having the cape ready for use, which means *not* routinely using it because you were still buying food on AH while the rest of the party headed to camp.

I think I'm going to scale Uleguard Range, sit at the top of the cliff and then tell people to warp to me. Then laugh as they fall allllllllllll the way down to the bottom because they moved the wrong way loading in. That or I'll go to Attowah Chasm and say "Xoltol is up! Xoltol is up" and when everyone warps in, I'll be like "Damn, you just missed it. Oh well, let's go do Antlion in Sheep's Clothing.". |

all jokes aside, I could seriously see people paying 10k for a invite, so they could warp to the top of that mountain ;p

| Re: Introducing the Add-on Trilogy Bonus Gift! (11/02/2009) I'll note that this potentially adds even more value to the underappreciated Chocobo Circuit; I already drag parties in there for teleports in a lot of situations where most people just expect/demand that everyone get to Whitegate (though the relative ease of getting to WG even from Jeuno now undercuts this somewhat). Now you don't even need a WHM and a destination with a telepoint crystal; pop into the Circuit, form party, pop out, head whereever, everyone else pops cape. This could be especially handy if the destination is nearer one of the three starting nations than Jeuno or WG, e.g. gathering for BCNM/KSNM.

Even after all the travel options added to the game, there's always two or three people you know that don't have them and will still need a teleport. Even if they've had like five years to get other means of transportation on their own, FFXI will always have some hitchhikers. |

And there's gonna be plenty of people without this thing too. It's a nice option but it won't see as much use as everyone is expecting. Quote:
SE would rather delay something then rush it, we've seen this plenty of times before. And now that these Add-ons are out of the way, and WotG is winding down, it won't be long until SE lets us know what we're getting next. My only hope is that SE forgoes these crappy Add-ons and gives us a full fledged expansion again, but something tells me that won't be what happens.

What makes you think WotG is winding down? We haven't even seen Zvahl[s] yet, let alone that funky zone that might be inside Atomos. It seems to me a little like saying ToAU was winding down before the introduction of Salvage, Nyzul, the top couple of merc ranks, mythic weapons, and ZNM. That's a *lot* of content that was released relatively late in the expansion.

The team that did the add-ons wasn't even part of the traditional teams, but folks that worked on the original FFXI mission content then moved on to other projects outside of FFXI. Then there's the fact that they've got people moving between this and FFXIV as well. WotG is here for another year at least. They haven't said a thing about FanFest for this or next year and when they do, if there's any expansion for FFXI, its going to be a footnote to FFXIV. WotG has a lot left to tap. All that talk from NPCs demanding that certain areas be unsealed - you know, ones we can go to in the past, but remain inaccessible in the present? Yeah, that. We have both parts of of CZB (S) to unlock, the Walk of Echos (if that really is just one zone) and then there's that nagging detail for Grauberg, Fort K-N and Vunkerl Inlet in the present day. We don't exactly know the fate of those areas and that's a major piece of the puzzle in the Crystal War. What's inside present-day versions of these zonest? Why can't we go there? They couldn't have all just caved in or been nuked clean off the face of the map. I don't think we just fully unlock northlands and that's it. Clearly, there's more afoot that just the Shadow Lord - if anything he's just a pawn here - there are forces at work trying to change history to their advantage

What bothers me more is the fact that they plan to drag it out across 2010, and knowing SE, right up until XIV's launch. No offense SE, but I'd like to be done with XI by the time the Beta starts, or at least a few months before XIV's official launch.

66% would be two years then, making 100% three. I'd even wager WotG won't have a successor until March 2011, I would be extremely surprised if SE released a FFXI expansion alongside FFXIV's debut. This is the largest expansion they've added to the game. Its also beside the point that some people will leave for FFXI, because there are also plenty of people that won't because of attachment to their accomplishments and such. A lot of FFXI players are assuming they'll get into the beta, which from the sounds of it is going to be really small and function more like a real beta test than a stress test. Those in it to treat it like a demo might get removed quickly. Additionally, a lot of FFXI players are totally spoiled and they're going to find the degradation system too harsh for their tastes. Just look at Karinya's statement about Haubys and SHs being too good to be augmented. There are just people hung up on the gil value of various items, even if they never sell them. My jobs hemmorage gil constantly, so I'll take to FFXIV like water, I'd think. I was already enduring it in WoW pretty well. Even when I was just a level 1 with barely any bronze, I knew to pay up for repairs. |

Mal, I'm a RNG and a COR, I have the closest jobs to experiencing degradation in the game. I'm gonna laugh at all these people that QQ when their shit wears down in FFXIV. I will say WoW was almost too generous with repair costs, though. EQOA made me pay out the ass. |
