I think this is a perfectly good test to determine the future of live/player events on XIV.

So... is this SE's half-assed way of encouraging RP or what? I seriously don't get why they even bothered with this...

It's kinda cool, but honestly seems like a huge waste of time and money on their part.

Ah, I was under the impression that the winners were selected by the community sites; or that they picked out their favorites, and SE picked the winners from a smaller pool.

I sometimes wonder if SE wants players to have a separate FFXI sort of "culture" in-game. Things like players creating their own little annual sporting events: Level 1 Qufim Race? Player organized Ballista Royales? Or even finding ways to celebrate things like birthdays online. If this had been introduced any earlier, I'm sure somebody would've tried to make a celebration for Siren's 2000th Besieged win.

But I am thinking that SE wants to turn of FFXI, or turn off as many servers for when FFXIV comes out with all these fail attempts...

Whats the next update gonna be?
