My Mood: | Re: Version Update Sneak Peek (07/17/2009) This. I would wholly embrace the bell thing if the whole thing wasn't a massive timing mess. Shame, too, as a second octave and sharps and flats has a heck of a lot of potential. But I somehow doubt that we're going to be seeing "Thriller" performed in the temple of the goddess in Jeuno any time soon. Not to mention that two octaves with sharps and flats would be too much for one macro set with one button per note. Quote:
But, yeah, I am of the belief that all three Bard songs (Singing, Wind, String) should be based upon which region you're currently in. Wouldn't be that hard, either, because as far as I know, almost every region in the game has a zone with some specific music in it. . . . Well, maybe except Qufim, but I guess regions like those are what the current Bard songs are for.

115% fail SE, really. ![]() I'm starting to think that SE doesn't care about the community. Maybe they are trying to get everyone to quit with this fail update in preperation for FFXIV

Is anybody here realizing some obvious truths? I don't know anything about fishing so I can't comment on that portion other than to say the fishers will prolly rejoice. For the rest -- the bell thing is such an easy coding change. It probably took a programmer about 5 minutes to throw in there. Don't get all sulky because S-E took time to do something you won't ever use. It took virtually 0 man-hours to make said change. As for new food.... remember Marinara pizza +1 and the inhumanly difficult rabbit pie before it? This food could be crap, or it could revolutionize the cooking market... Let's not jump to fail conclusions.

Thing is, there are a lot of other small additions that could be done that would have more of an impact than... increasing the range of an instrument. Heck; how about they create a special scripting language that lets you plan out your bell's playing ahead of time, and have it play with accuracy? Not like it would take that long, and would be tons more useful. |

But I'm surprised that no one seems to have noticed that SE has been hyping this update in a completely backward fashion in contrast to the way they'd usually do it. This sort of update teaser would usually come first rather than a few days away from the update. SE didn't build any sort of suspense or excitement this time around. They went in guns blazing talking about the cool stuff first, leaving people room to become disappointed.

FINAL FANTASY XI Official Web Site Quote:
They did this last time, too, with all the little stuff immediately before the update. It even included the addition of the by-popular-demand /bell command! Heck, if you compare the two updates even further . . . April Version Update (2009) Petfoodalpha.com July Version Update (2009) Petfoodalpha.com you'll notice that there are quite a few similarities, but no discernible overall pattern. While I agree with you, 'kitten, that the hype seems to have been reversed for this update, I do not think it was an intentional plan of S-E's moreso than a massive miscarriage of priorities, totally missing the mark of what players would be excited about, and thus thought rather erroneously (and possibly pretentiously) that we'd actually be more excited (or, by extension, even excited at all!) about their lolAugments system than whatever job updates they had in store for this month. Speaking of which, I think I'm going to use the suggestions form to send S-E a piece of my mind about Summoner and other things after this update hits; if nothing else, it's been something I've been meaning to do since even before the Red Mage update, and it would at least make me feel better just to have it done.

Damn it Mal, if you're going to use a macro every 3 posts, at least show us one that's A) amusing, and B) not 8 years old.

There's still the potential for a big reveal the day before, or even of, the update. Remember, Diabolos was announced as a playable avatar on the 12th, with the update happening the very next day. The precedent is there...but will SE pull through is big question.

And even if it were happening, why the heck are you guys so obsessed about new avatars, anyway? It's not like it would fix the job at all, nor is it like very many of you are Summoners in the first place!

<-- blm QQing. Instead of focusing on bells and whistles, almost literally, they should focus on something that's actually important. Like my job! There's still a few things to look forward to, such as those campaign unions, the northlands in the past, and the new ninja abilities. These may just keep me entertained in between soloing sessions on my blm ._. |

Call me wacky, but I'm actually kind of looking forward to seeing what they do with the Circle abilities. I have 10 merit points stored up right now on the (very off chance) Killer Instincts might actually be useful. Alas, how will I decide how to remove points from Beast Affinity and Feral Howl though...I need Feral Howl for Ballista. And I need Beast Affinity for level 75 Funguar. Quote:
