Re: Job Adjustments and Additions Part I (07/03/2009)

Interesting udate. I doubt this will really give me any incentive to finish off NIN as a sub once it hits, heck I'd rather take MNK to 75 then finish off NIN as a sub but it's still a very nice update for NIN nontheless.

Only 5k? I've been offered 60k for a successful 2 hour reset before. One of the more ludicrous and lucrative nights I had while seeking on COR was when Beseiged was going on so I could zone into Besieged, reset my 2 hour then warp out back to WG to get paid to reset more 2 hours because a lot of super ultra uber EGLS's are too lazy to use besieged to get their 2 hour back. Made something like 240k in one hour and one of the groups let me get in on one of thier Floor 100 runs for my Goliard Hat though nothing dropped.

I also find ninja to be really useful in SCNM's, omega and ultima to name a few.
See, I find information like this interesting. For at least a year now, nin's have been rarely used in endgame from my experiences. It was kind of odd to see "NEED NIN!" all the time to "hopeful member: Should I come NIN? leader: Hell no!"

Personally I'm more interested in Innin because I'd like to see nins doing more dd than tanking.

But it won't happen, players are too stubborn. Personally don't even know what's so fucking scary about being SATAed.

...

I'm hoping BST is somewhere in these updates. Snarl was nice and all, but we could use an offensive/defensive state as well.
The amount of QQing over the update on other forums is getting a bit tiresome, though I vaguely recall RDMs did the same until they actually got it and realized it was actually useful for not just frontline. Looks to me like Innin is designed to me NIN a DD if there is no need for a tank (or if somebody else is tanking). Some may baw at the mob direction thing, but if it is in SE's great plan for people to ignore mob direction (which it isn't), they would stop adding mobs with cone and line attacks. Obviously, as much as people try to avoid it however possible, they do care about players trying to manipulate the mob to face specific directions.

Anybody else think it's pretty telling that some of the major updates to jobs lately have been about stances? Almost like subtly trying to tell people "We think the jobs are fine. So if we're gonna update something, you're going to have to accept a downside to it." Wonder what sort of stances we could expect to see from some BST update...

Oh sure when BBQ says it everyone listens... but when I say the same thing in another thread weeks ago I get derided.

Well, not drain samba exactly. It will only heal 1 member that is below 75% hp. Unlike Drain Samba which heals everyone who hits the mob, but only the Rdm needs to hit the mob, and the one that is below 75% hp gets the hp with out even hitting it.

this is only part 1 of the updates... gotta wait for the other parts... They are going to show them little by little to hype it up so much for when the update comes...

Frankly... I'm getting a lil tired of SE doing this kind of thing. Releasing a little bit of info at a time, making the wait for it even harder.

Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if that was the last update RDM ever gets.

SE needs to focus on the jobs that actually need buffing over handing out new shinies.

I think it's a good idea, for one reason: It makes it easier for people to talk about it. Forums would only get one thread, people talking in game would be like 'so how about those updates huh' instead of talking about specific new features, etc. It gives people more time to have more in depth discussions (which SE can benefit from reading, on top of obviously being better for players), and keeps threads of discussion far more orderly.

It has another direct benefit to SE, too: keeping updates fresh in people's minds, and on their tongues. It's free publicity.

That's pretty much what they've been doing and I've called it well in advance each time.

I said RDM would get updated after jobs that needed it more.
I said NIN would get updates after RDM got them.
Also said SMN will get gradual updates like every other pet job, that is, unless you want a repeat of the two-hander update.

So pardon me about not being floored by the announcement that NIN was getting an update.

SMN is probably on the list for this month, considering we're now in the timeframe SE said the "large" avatars would be released. Or at least they'll be unveiled first in some mission storyarch first to leave us salivating til September/October.

They also said BST stuff was in the works post-fanfest, so it should be dropping between this or the next update.

What does surprise me is actually that SE teased the NIN job adjustments so soon. Either there's a third/fourth job getting an update this month or its going to be an update really light on content, SE usually saves the adjustment stuff til the very end of the update news.

Or a third option: the normally hotly-anticipated job adjustment posts are just S-E warming up to wow us with something later in the month. This update *is* "late" July, after all.

. . . or a fourth option: job updates aren't considered "hot" any more, and are thus being shifted to an earlier role in the update lineup, for the sole fact that there is no point in delaying the job updates since Red Mages aren't eagerly awaiting an update of any sort and thus can't be properly/perpetually teased any more. >.> (Just kidding, though, especially if the Polls Fusion runs over at PFA are any reliable sort of indication.)
